Smarter than Sheep??

Yesterday’s Gods Time was about Noah’s Invitation to come into the Ark rather than Gods Command to go into the ark. With a boat full of wild animals I would be praying that God would be with me on the ark and He was.

The story of Noah’s Ark (really Gods design that Noah built) is one of the most well-known real life stories of the Bible. Yet there are a lot of facts that are not taught when the story is shared. One of them is that the animals just came. Two of the unclean and 14 of the clean and fowls just showed up. Unclean as described by God in Jewish law after the flood were animals that were not to be touched or eaten. On two (a male and a female) came to the Ark. The clean animals (ok to touch and eat after the flood) had 14 show up at the ark.

I have described the Roundup if Noah of being a bigger task than building the Ark. If he and his 3 sons had to go get a male and a female of every living creature that task would be impossible. As fast as rabbits multiply they could only pick them on the last day before boarding the ark. Tomorrow there would be twice that many.

But just like God he makes the impossible seem easy. Genesis 6:20 Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.

We as humans claim to be smart and often call sheep the dumbest animals on the planet. Fourteen sheep were smart enough to show up but only eight humans showed up!!

Jesus says the last days of the earth before His coming will be like the days of Noah. Maybe we ought to be watching the sheep. For sure we need to be ready and listening for the call of Jesus to Come!! Lord help us be ready, Amen!!

Matthew 24:36-38
36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

Come In

When Expected guests arrive at you home they are generally greeted with the words Come In.

It is interesting that in Genesis 7:1 that God says these words to Noah. Genesis 7:1
And the Lord said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark;

Noah had built the ark over a period of 75 or more years. I sure he had entered the ark thousands of times while it was under construction. But this time was different. In order for God to invite him to Come In, God himself had to be on the inside of the ark. If God had been on the outside of the ark it would read more like an Oklahoma Tornado warning, You better get in the cellar (Ark) because a dangerous storm is coming.

I love the thought that God was in the ark. In 1 Kings 8:11 Gods glory filled the temple that Solomon had built as evidence of His approval and presence there. The invitation to Noah is evidence of His approval and presence in the ark that Noah had built. I don’t see where noah prayed asking God to dwell there and to seal up the cracks he might have missed but if it had me building the ark I would have said”Okay Lord, I did my best, You do the rest. I give You this vessel please make it work.

The preferred dwelling place for God today is in You and me. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

The invitation to come in has to come from You to invite God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit into your body and life. Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Will you open the door and invite Jesus in? Will you allow him to dwell there not just as a Guest but as the owner of the vessel? Here I am Lord, I do my best, You do the rest to give me a good life and get me to Heaven. In Jesus name I pray, Amen

Genesis 7:1
And the Lord said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.

Costly Free Will Choices

In Genesis 13 Abram (later named Abraham) and Lot came up out of Egypt and both men were blessed by God with sheep and cattle. Sometimes the blessings bring challenges. Too many cattle and sheep in one area causes over grazing and the land can’t sustain them. Abraham did the noble thing and allowed Lot to choose which direction he and his herds would head and Abram took the opposite direction.

It’s interesting to me that the strife was between the cattlemen. When land is over grazed, the sheep and goats win every time. They can eat the grass right down to the dirt. Cattle do not have upper front teeth and cannot do that. I would have thought the sheep herders and cattlemen would be arguing. Your sheep keep the grass eaten off to the ground and my cows can’t get a bite.

Another disheartening thing about the story is that Lot greedily chose the entire Jordan Valley. The Jordan River runs most of the length of the Promised Land and is in the heart of the land east and west.

Lot could have easily taken the west side of the Jordan and Abram could have had the east side or vice versa. But No, Lot wanted the whole valley leaving his uncle Abram with a donut around the valley, the surrounding desert land. And when Lot got there he stopped worrying about the sheep and cattle. He became what some farm folks might call a “City Slicker” or a drug store cowboy. The Bible says he sat at the gate daily.

I think we all know how the story ended for Lot. His Costly Free Will Choices cost him the blessings of God on his family and his life. He ultimately lost his wife (Turned to a pillar of salt), at least two daughters (who never got out of S***m) with their husbands and likely some grandchildren. His two virgin daughters who were rescued with him got him drunk and he slept with him.

Today I encourage you to surrender and choose God and let him make the right choices for you. Please don’t be greedy and choose the wrong things and loose the blessing of God on your life on your family, on your possessions, on your property, on your business. those Choices can be costly.

Father, Keep us close and focused on You and Your will for our lives. Keep us close enough to continue to bless us. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen

Genesis 13:7 And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram's cattle and the herdmen of Lot's cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land.
8 And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren.
9 Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left.
10 And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the Lord destroyed S***m and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar.

The Fear or Faith of king
Today is still from 2 Kings 5. It is still still about God healing Naaman Today we will look at the reaction (Faith) of the two kings involved, the king of Aram and the king of Israel.
Naaman goes into the king of Aram and says that his wife’s little maid said there was a prophet in Israel that could cure his leprosy. The king of Aram says “By all means go” I’ll send a letter to the King of Israel and tell him you’re coming. He wanted to be a part of Naamans healing and said go, man go.
The king of Israel freaked out when he read the letter. He rent his clothes in a sign of distress. “Am I God? Can I kill and bring back to life? Why does this fellow send someone to me to be cured of his leprosy? See how he is trying to pick a quarrel with me!”
It sure looks to me that the king of Aram had Faith that Elisha could heal Naaman. It is obvious to anyone that reads the passage the king of Israel had fear instead of faith.
To me it seem backwards that the king of Gods people, Israel had ZERO Faith that God was about to do something BIG (God Sized Miracle). Instead he was full of fear and believed it was a trick by Naaman and would cost him his life.
Yet the king of a Nation that did not believe in and did not worship the God of the Israelites, had enough Faith that the prophet could heal Naaman that he not only sent Naaman, A stamped letter to the King of Israel and he sent gifts that Google says would be worth 5.5 million dollars in today’s money.
Elisha didn’t want the gifts or the money, he wanted God. He wanted Naaman to Know God He wanted Aram to know there was a God in Israel.
Today are you full of Faith or are you full of Fear. We are all counting on God to perform a God sized miracle to get us into Heaven. Why not trust Him with your LIFE Right Now? He has a plan, He can perform it. Father into Thy hands I commit my Life, In Jesus name I pray, Amen
2 Kings 5:4 Naaman went to his master and told him what the girl from Israel had said. 5 “By all means, go,” the king of Aram replied. “I will send a letter to the king of Israel.” So Naaman left, taking with him ten talents[b] of silver, six thousand shekels[c] of gold and ten sets of clothing. 6 The letter that he took to the king of Israel read: “With this letter I am sending my servant Naaman to you so that you may cure him of his leprosy.”
7 As soon as the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his robes and said, “Am I God? Can I kill and bring back to life? Why does this fellow send someone to me to be cured of his leprosy? See how he is trying to pick a quarrel with me!”
