We’re so glad you’ve joined us for worship today!

As we move forward, it can be easy to look back and wonder if the best days are behind us. This week, Pastor Ric continues our First Things First series with a message from Haggai 2 titled, “Overcoming ‘the Good Old Days’ Distraction.”

Haggai reminds us that comparison can keep us from seeing what God is doing right now. When we focus on the past, we can lose confidence in the future God has prepared for us. But God calls His people to be strong, keep working, and trust that His presence and power are greater than anything we may have experienced before.

Join us as we learn to let go of comparison, overcome fear, and move forward with confidence in the God who is always with us.

It’s easy to look back and compare what God is doing now with what He has done in the past, but comparison can keep us from recognizing what He is doing right in front of us. This Sunday, we continue our First Things First series with a message from Haggai 2 titled “Overcoming the ‘Good Old Days’ Distraction.”

Pastor Ric will encourage us to stop living in the shadow of yesterday, trust God’s presence and power today, and move forward without fear. Join us this morning as we discover how God can do something greater than what we’ve seen before when we trust Him and keep moving forward.

We don't always see what the Lord is doing when He calls us to be obedient. God is so big, so strong, and so powerful that we imagine everything He does starts out BIG! But Scripture shows us that God often begins by checking our willingness to seek His will and obey His guidance before He reveals what He's actually doing. For example, the Lord told Abram to leave where he lived, but He didn't tell him where he was going. Abram simply had to obey to discover the destination.

In our study of Haggai this Sunday, we'll see the disappointment the people of God felt because the temple they were rebuilding wasn't as great or grand as the one they used to worship in. They're looking back and remembering the good old days of the past. In the Book of Zechariah, we read what God tells these people about their discouragement

"Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel's hand."
Zechariah 4:10 (NLT)

Many great blessings in our lives may start small before they grow into something much bigger. I hope you can join us this Sunday as we discuss "Overcoming the 'Good Old Days' Distraction."
