It is very important that all of us remember to do what we need to do to get the job done, to honor our names, to be a good witness, to be a good citizen, and always to bring glory to the name of Jesus. To remember is a virtue we all need to keep. Once while vacationing, in our vacation room, I forgot we had traveled about 10 miles from our previous home away from home, and in my mind I was thinking about the road, the next “pit” stop, our next meal, and watching the traffic in this metropolitan community of Central Florida. It became a “sharp” pain in my brain when I remembered that I had left all of our money in a “safe” in the bedroom. Yes, all the trip money was 10 miles back in the opposite direction. I forgot! I drove back in 30 minutes and got the cash. We should not forget that God has our Backs!

Tonight was the first Wednesday of the new church year. We can’t think of a better way to start the new church year than with a sweet child giving their heart to Jesus tonight!

Life is tough! Constant troubles, trials, and tribulations seem to come upon us at a daily rate. Once we seem to get our head up “out of water” and swim smoothly along in the current, another storm comes. Every good day, or week, or even month seems to be attacked by another month of “bad stuff”. Yes, Job promised that man would be born into times of trouble. What seems to be the answer to a life, a family, a community, and yes, a world which is filled with trouble? What can we do about it?

The answer is found in Faith and not only Faith but a “crew” with Faith. There is strength in loving God. There is peace in loving-obeying God. There is even more peace – hope in time of trouble by not only having a personal Faith but joining together with a community of Faith. Being involved with people who share with you, who pray with you, and who love God with you. “We need to know that God has our back!”

We have a job for everyone — repairs, cleaning, organizing, and more. Come help give God’s house some much needed care!

Bring your family, bring a friend, and come lend a helping hand. Our youth will be out working alongside us, so come show them some support and let’s get it done together. Many hands make light work!

Life is built on a series of steps. To accomplish our goals in life, we need to follow the instructions and take simply one step at a time. Slowly but surely, the job will get done one step at a time. Julia and I attended a Teaching Conference in Boston, Mass. Years ago. She was on business while I was on board to see to her. Of course, we traveled to all the historical sights e.g., Paul Revere, Boston Harbor, The Constitution (ship), Bunker Hill (“don’t shoot till you see the whites of their eyes”), Quincy Market, Webster's Restaurant. On top of Bunker Hill was a Watch Tower dated back to the 1700’s. It overlooked the Harbor and was vital to see the British ships sailing in 1776. The sign dared us to climb the 950-plus steps to get to the top and look out! We climbed to the top (almost 1,000 steps), all the while I said to myself, “one step at a time”. Today we get the job done with confidence, one step at a time.

All of us have faced tasks in front of us and accomplished what we set out to do. We all have put together bicycles, toys, outdoor swing sets, beds, furniture, and even firepits that came to our home in a box, unassembled. We opened the box, and inside was a paper called “Instructions Included” and then 150 various parts. Most of us felt a bit over-come at that point. We laid out all the parts, screws, bolts, nuts, washers, tools, instructions, etc., and began the task of “building” our gift. If we became impatient, upset, tired, bored, or angry, we started leaving the instructions and “doing it ourselves”. This was our first mistake.

God, too, has a book of instructions called “The Bible”. He desires that we follow His instructions. We must be “Confident In His Direction” and follow His instruction if we succeed. There are some principles we must have first.
