Daily Prayer - January 16, 2026

“For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish." (Jeremiah 31:25)

Heavenly Father, thank you for bringing me through another week with all its twist, turns, and turmoil, I know it is only You that keeps me in perfect peace. May my soul find refreshment in Your Word and my spirit be renewed.

Father, I thank You for being my refuge and strength. You quiet every storm within me and replace my worries with calm. Let my heart rest in the assurance that You are in control. Surround my family, church, and community with Your protection and favor.

Holy Spirit, be a wall of fire around me and the glory within me this weekend. Guard my going out and my coming in. Let no weapon formed against me prosper, and let Your peace be my constant companion.

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen.

A prayer for immigrants and fellow human beings:
“The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt.” (Leviticus 19:34)

Heavenly Father, the One who can break spiritual barriers, inspire compassion, and bring divine direction to those navigating difficult paths. You who sees every journey and honors every tear. I praise Your Holy Name.

Father, I lift all who are navigating the uncertainty of immigration challenges. Grant them courage when the road feels long, wisdom when decisions are heavy, and hope when the future seems unclear. Surround them with people who will advocate, protect, and uplift them. May they feel Your presence in every step of their journey. I pray for families divided by distance, paperwork, and policies. Comfort the hearts of parents missing their children, and children longing for their parents. Heal the pain of separation and open pathways for safe reunification.

Merciful Father, soften the hearts of leaders to welcome the displaced with dignity and justice. Break down their walls of hostility to act with fairness, empathy, and integrity. May every person be treated with dignity, regardless of where they come from.

Father, shield those escaping violence and oppression. Surround them with Your angels and open doors where there seem to be none. Protect them from harm, provide safe passage, and lead them to a place of refuge. Turn their despair into hope for those waiting in uncertainty. Remind them that they are seen and loved by You.

God of hope, open doors for those seeking a better life. Where laws fail, let Your grace prevail.

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen.

INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY MONTH at AFCOG:

March 2 - Minister Lisa Kirby
March 9 - Rev. Gloria Adams
March 16 - Rev. Rhonda Johnston
March 23 - Rev. DarShayla Price
March 30 - Rev. Andrea Jordan

, she preaches from the shoulders of her church mothers who courageously preached in the face of adversity and rejection.

, she preaches for the imaginations of her church daughters whose imaginations are nourished for their own role within the body of Christ.

, she preaches with courage not born out of anger or even righteous indignation, but out of the power of the Spirit.

, she is aware that there will be those who will congratulate her on her “talk,” and never affirm it as a sermon.

, she trembles for she knows there will be those who reject her simply because of her gender.

, she is aware that there may be more feedback on her clothes or hair rather than the sermon itself.

, she isn’t progressive; rather, she is old school. She stands on the shoulders of Deborah and Junia.

, she has nothing to prove, but instead a word to be proclaimed, preached, and prophesied.

, it is not a slippery slope to hell; rather, it is a living out of Galatians 3:28 and Pentecost.

, she preaches out of a seed planted from the Spirit of the living God – that is, a called woman of God.

, she carries pains and wounds, but is choosing to preach out of healing and love and not bitterness.

, those who leave or walk out because of her gender are within view, but she preaches anyway.

, she does it out of faithfulness and obedience, not rebellion.

, she doesn’t want to push her brothers aside, but she wants to come alongside of them and partner with them.

, she does it not because she only wants to talk about women’s issues or even women in ministry, but for her love for Jesus and His church.

, she is by the Spirit of Pentecost, impelled by love, propelled by Jesus, and empowered by the gospel-centered church.

It is essential to Sabbath.

Keeping Sabbath is a core spiritual practice - much like prayer and Bible study. It’s an essential means, especially in our 24/7 culture, that God uses to slow us down and liberate us from the world and her values.

Questions to ask yourself before you start complaining about your church:

If the church service depended solely on MY worship….. how full of worship would the service be?

If the church had to depend solely on MY faithfulness…… how faithful would my church be?

If the church had to survive solely on MY prayer life….. how much prayer would be going on?

If the church could only go as deep as MY relationship with God goes….. how deep would my church be?

If we had to make it on MY Bible reading and knowledge……. How knowledgeable would my church be?

If we have to go by my offerings, how BIG would the church outreach be?

If the preaching depended solely on my response to the preaching and the altar call…….. how responsive would my church be?

If it all depended on me……. What would happen?

Before you start complaining…….. make sure the you’re:
The first one praying
The first one worshiping
The first one reading and studying
The first one responding
The first one fasting
The first one faithful
The first one giving

“I just don’t get anything out of his preaching” isn’t a valid argument. You’re there to worship Jesus & serve the lost.
