Welcome to Absecon Presbyterian Church Online! Thank you for being here! Please be sure to comment, say hello to your fellow viewers, like and react, and share your prayer requests! You are encouraged to talk in church! Remember always this good news: You are loved by the One True God, who shared in your humanity through Christ Jesus, to live, die and rise again. By inaugurating God's reign now and forever, Jesus has called you to receive the Holy Spirit, which pours the Father's love into our hearts to share in God's abundant and eternal life. Let us rejoice in this, because even when things seem difficult, we can trust that Jesus has overcome the world and is reconciling all things to Himself. RE: COVID 19 - Absecon Presbyterian Church will be closed to the public events and visits, in order to play our part in helping to stem the spread of COVID-19. Worship will be available on this page only, and office hours reflect phone coverage only.
When the virus is contained and life returns to normal, the information below will again be relevant, but in the meantime, please pray, use the telephone, text, email and social media to stay in touch with each other, and let’s keep washing our hands and keeping our distance to stop this virus in its tracks.
Absecon Presbyterian Church welcomes you to this page and to a church community that is inspired by the Good News of God’s amazing love. Weekly Sunday Worship services are at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Nursery for children up to 5 years old is available for the second service along with Sunday School for grades pre-K to 6. Before the Service is a 9:30 a.m. “Breakfast Fellowship” and after the service will be a time for “Cookies & Coffee Fellowship.”
Weekly Sunday Worship - Every Sunday you can expect a service centered on the reading of Bible passages and a sermon. The 9 a.m. service is about 30-40 minutes and has a liturgy based on the church season. The 10:30 a.m. service is about an hour long and features the choir and special music. The traditional style of both services mixes group and individual prayer together with a mix of classic and more contemporary hymns, all of which you are welcome to participate in as you feel comfortable. You are encouraged to come as you are. Church is not supposed to be a place for perfect people who appear perfect in every way. Church is a place to seek God and each other in meaningful relationship. Afterward, you are welcome to join in our “fellowship time” where all are invited to talk, share in some light refreshments, and bond as a church family.
Children’s Sunday Programs - During Sunday service there is a nursery for young children (5 and under) and after the Youth Sermon in the service, we offer a Christian Education program for children in grades K-6 that runs from September to June. The nursery is staffed with volunteers from the church who seek to make you and your child comfortable and secure in our dedicated environment. The Christian Education program is a coordinated curriculum put together by church staff and volunteers to build on the Sunday worship experience and help inspire young people to love and serve. Teenagers and children of any age are welcome to stay and participate in the inter-generational worship service with the adults, knowing that their voices truly are a joyful noise.
After School Activity - The New Disciples (grades 9-12), Rock Solid (grades 5-8), and King of Kings (grades 1-5) offer opportunities for school-aged children to get together for fun, fellowship and individual growth on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons during the school year. Next and Rock Solid build a community of faith among a diverse group of young people through activities and service to help them navigate a complex world. It runs after school from 4:45 p.m to 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday afternoons. King of Kings provides a foundation of faith, hope and love by bringing elementary school children together for fun and formational experiences designed to inspire them for their future. It runs after school from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday afternoons.
Absecon Presbyterian church has a long history in the region, founded in 1859, and has grown to be a lively congregation where you can be a part of a community of faith that follows the word of God revealed in the Bible and works to spread that love of God through Jesus Christ. The Good News of Jesus Christ inspires us to worship together, grow in faith together, and make an impact together on the needs of our immediate community and the greater Atlantic City area. We invite you and encourage you to come to a weekly worship service and see that you may find that you belong in the lifelong fellowship of this church family.
