Good evening sangha members! Our temple here in Philadelphia has a small group of tech geeks working on a new Won Buddhist phone app for mind study. We have a release train made and are working on our first release. Here's what is included:

Principle Book of Won Buddhism
Daily Mindfulness tracker
Announcements and events from temples you want to hear from
Daily Journaling

Here are some things we plan for the future:
Cloud integration (if you want)
Users can share diary with kyomunims of their choice
Meditation timer, music, and bell
Bowing meditation app
Won Market Place
Donation access
Chant along module
Other scriptures of Won Buddhism

Our team would love to hear your input on what you would like to see in the app. Feel free to leave a comment of what you want to see in the app. We will do our best to implement what our sangha thinks would help them practice.

Take a look of some pictures of our app so far!

Dear Sangha members!

We have recently cut two large trees on the temple grounds and are willing to share this wood with anyone willing to take it. This wood is excellent firewood for your home during the cold winter days. All wood can be taken for free as is. If you are interested in taking some of this wood, please let us know! We must have notice of your interest by Friday (11/11/22).

You may contact us at [email protected].

Thank you!

Join us for our upcoming WonLab webinar Recovering the Asian American Foundations of American Buddhism with Dr. Funie Hsu on November 16th, 2022 at 7pm โœจ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Most convert Buddhists in America arenโ€™t aware that Buddhism was first practiced in this country by Asian immigrant laborers. How did this historical fact get left out of the mainstream narratives of American Buddhism? This talk will discuss some of the early Asian American communities and histories at the root of American Buddhism. It will also highlight how these foundations of American Buddhism have been excluded. It details how the combined forces of racial and religious domination have impacted Asian American Buddhists, and how theyโ€™ve persisted. It will conclude by highlighting ways that we can work together to amplify the Asian American foundations of American Buddhism to offer a more accurate and just Buddhism for all.

We are happy to let the public know that Won Buddhism of America will be holding the opening ceremony and enshrinement of Il-Won-Sang at the new Houston Temple on Sunday, October 23rd, 2022. Construction of this temple began in 2020 and with much hard work and dedication, the project is now complete and ready to open.

Many Won Buddhist ministers, including Head Dharma Master Juksannim, will be flying in from all over the States in order to join this momentous occasion. We will post more pictures as they come.

We pray to the Dharmakaya Buddha for a bright future of the Won Buddhist Temple of Houston.

Phase 2 of our updated dharma hall is under way! We have received the new machine units and have disconnected the old units. With an elder temple member (Jinsannim) and Youngbin Kyomunim at the lead, we will get the job done.

The new units are nice and shiny, very beautiful! We think everyone will look forward to having these new units installed in the building. Thank you again to all of our supporters who made this possible!

Together, we use our minds and bodies to build a better world!

This past year, the A/C and heating units in our dharma hall began to fail, so we have started to raise money to replace our outdated units with new higher capacity units as well as window blinds to help maintain comfortable temperatures in our dharma hall. We are happy to announce that we have exceeded our fundraising goal for our initiative.

Thank you to all of our donors and temple members who made it possible to acquire the new equipment (A/C and heating units are on the way, but the blinds are in and are now installed!).

Take a look at the pictures of phase 1 of our updated dharma hall... new blinds! Thank you again to all of our financial supporters and temple members for supporting our mind practice. This new equipment will allow us to meditate comfortably in the hot summer and chilly winter days. Stay tuned for phase 2 :)

Let's all use our minds well! Namu-ami-tabul _()_
