Are you debt free?
Imagine being so far into debt that you could never pay it off, but what if someone paid the debt for you? Would you accept that gift?
Jesus Christ wiped out our spiritual debt (handwriting of requirements)!
The phrase "handwriting of requirements" is translated from the Greek phrase cheirographon tois dogmasin.
The Greek word for "handwriting" is cheirographon. It is used in Greek for a document written in one's own hand as legal proof of indebtedness. It's a debt note. Other translations call it a bond of indebtedness.
The word relating to "requirements" comes from the Greek word dogmasin, which refers to decrees, laws, or ordinances.
Jesus Christ canceled our spiritual debts, our sins, and our transgressions of God's law on the Cross. By way of His crucifixion and resurrection, Christ nailed our note of debt (handwriting of requirements) to the cross. It is only because of His sacrifice that we can be debt free of our sins.

13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, 14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
You can never pay the debt yourself no matter how "good" you are or how much "good" you do. The good news is that the debt has been paid;
indeed, through Christ your debt of sin is wiped away. However, you have to accept the gift of your debt having been paid, and that can only be done through a relationship with Jesus Christ.
