Read your CheckSet from TxA. I saw I had it but I didn't read it. If I had then I could have saved myself $50. I wanted to gift a subscription to a student and of course I remembered before I saw the CheckSet free gift subscription information.

Also you can send a free gift subscription to someone. Follow the link in the email ([email protected]) to the correct link.

This brings some thoughts on how we as people and especially as Architects treat the buildings we visit whether with a guide or without. Does someone live there? In one case will my presence wake them up?

I remember in college we were touring a home in Dallas, we had permission to be there, but our professors got angry with us for taking pictures without asking first.

What happens when a private residence becomes an Instagram hot spot?

Yesterday the AIA national Board of Directors voted on bylaw changes.
The premise is someone suggested that anyone that wins the Whitney M. Young Jr. Award and anyone elected as an AIA Officer would be automatically elevate them to AIA Fellow.

The board voted to elevate only the Whitney M. Young Jr. Award recipients but not elevate elected AIA Officers.

TxA Executive Board had sent a letter to the AIA board to let them know their view, which I believe helped to get this outcome.

I am not an AIA Fellow and although I would love to become one I don't want to by taking away all the work and dedication the current Fellows did to earn them the honor. They could make it cheaper to become a Fellow. Currently applicants are spending over $10,000 to apply. I don't know the specifics but that seems alot. There could be some rearranging that honors the current Fellows yet make it just a little easier to become a Fellow in the future.
