I am calling my latest piece "Back Yard Neighbors" featuring an Owl, a Woodpecker and a Squirrel. All are approximately life size. I have been saving the piece of wood for a few years just waiting for this project. It's 40" high and 10" wide. This kept me quarantined in my shop for a while.

It may not be September yet but I have been dove hunting this week. Found one in a piece of red cedar. This may be my new wood to work with. It's a lot softer and easier to work with than mesquite.

Here is my latest project. A profile of a trout inlaid into a piece of sandstone. I happened upon the trout cutout while cleaning my shop recently. I saved it because of the intersting pattern of the wood grain pattern of peach tree wood. Thought that this would be a good way to display it. Cutting into the sandstone was not as easy as I thought it would be.

In late Sept. this year, Neal Lowery and I went to British Colombia to fish for trophy size Brook Trout. I just completed this carving of a replica, or as close as I could, of one of the largest that we caught. It is 20" long with a 15" girth and an estimated weight of 5 1/2 lbs. This one is not for sale. It's mine as a reminder of a bucket list trip with a good friend.
