Rwanda Children

Rwanda Children We provide shelter, food, medical care, education, and hope to at-risk children in the name of Jesus.

We trust in the power of our God who made all people and we believe that Jesus, God in the flesh, set us an example of hope, mercy, and love for our neighbor. As a result, Rwanda Children seeks to embody and live out the example of love through our presence and through the sharing of our resources with vulnerable and at-risk children in the country of Rwanda. Beginning in 2013, we built our first

children's home in the village of Ntarama, Rwanda - home to our founder, Serge Gasore. This home currently provides for seven children from Ntarama and surrounding communities who have been identified as at-risk or vulnerable by their families or other community members. We are also caring for 14 additional children who became the first residents in two of the 5 new children's homes comprising our Hunter Hanner Community of Hope. Our goal is to ensure all of these children can grow, learn and live free from abuse, extreme poverty or neglect. Rwanda Children is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Meet Hero.

He is one year and six months old — and he already gets excited when he sees a soccer ball.

Hero’s family loves him deeply and works hard for him. But reliable nutrition, healthcare, and education are still beyond what they can provide on their own.

He is cheerful. He is curious. He is exploring the world with joy every single day.

We believe in what Hero is becoming. And we are grateful for every partner who makes it possible to walk alongside children like him.

Nailla is seven years old and in Primary 2.

She loves swimming, and when she grows up, she wants to become Rwanda’s Minister of Gender.

But first, as she recently told one of her teachers, she wants to build houses so her family will never be cold.

Seven years old. Already carrying both ambition and love in the same breath.

That is who Rwanda Children is raising.

Aldon, Marc, and Tunga sat down together on the grass with a book — and something happened that books always seem to produce: laughter.

Whatever they found on that page, they found together. And they could not stop smiling.

For just $15, you can place a book like that one into the hands of a child at Rwanda Children — a book that will be read out loud, shared with friends, and loved for years to come.

As May draws to a close, here is one more way to make a lasting impact.

Happy Friday — and that’s a wrap on May 2026.

We want to close the month with this: Noella and Kiara, both Senior One students, sat down with Jacqueline and helped her with her reading. Nobody organized it. They just sat down and started helping.

By the end, Jacqueline was recognizing words more confidently. She told us she feels encouraged to keep practicing.

That is what your partnership makes possible — students growing not only in knowledge, but in kindness, confidence, and community.

Thank you for being part of it. See you in June.

Teacher Annet Namuwonge carried Ella Mushikiwabo through the classroom — and Ella rested her head on Annet’s shoulder with the quiet confidence of a child who knows she is held.

This is the daily reality of Rwanda Children’s Early Childhood Development program: teachers who do not just teach, but carry — literally and figuratively — the children in their care.

When you give to Rwanda Children, you help place caring adults like Annet in the lives of children like Ella. That is not a small thing.

François Shirambere, our campus Spiritual Life dean, hugged Innocent, and Innocent rested his head against François’s chest and closed his eyes.

He wasn’t asleep. He was just safe.

That moment, captured without either of them knowing, tells you something important about what Rwanda Children’s staff give these children every day. Not just instruction. Not just care. A place to rest.

François is one of more than 200 Rwandan staff members who show up every day in Ntarama. We are deeply grateful for him.

A goat is a small business on four hooves.

A goat can help a family grow more food, earn income, and build stability over time. For a widow or a family with few options, it represents a genuine path forward.

For $70, you can place a goat into the hands of a family working to build a better future. For $90, give a goat and receive our ‘Donate A Goat’ t-shirt.

“I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” — Philippians 4:13

We return to this verse often — not as a motivational slogan, but as a reminder of where our strength truly comes from.

In eleven years, Rwanda Children has grown from one small home to a 10+ acre campus, a school serving more than 900 students, a Health Center caring for tens of thousands, and a team of over 200 Rwandan staff members.

None of this exists apart from God’s faithfulness. All the glory belongs to Him.

This week, neighbors employed through Rwanda Children joined our agronomist, Jean De Dieu Mujyambere, to harvest cabbage from our agricultural program.

They worked side by side in the kind of unity that is hard to manufacture and easy to recognize.

Much of what our children eat each day comes from fields like this — tended by people who understand that feeding a child is not a small act. It is a daily commitment.

From the field to the table, it is an act of love. Thank you for making it possible.

This week in our sewing training program, three young women held up something they had never held before: clothes they made with their own hands.

Jeannette Uwamahoro dreams of becoming a professional tailoring teacher. Gloria Uwase hopes to open a large tailoring center someday. Naome Mukamisha wants to become a successful businesswoman.

Together, they made trousers, t-shirts, and clothing from vibrant Kitenge fabric.

This is what vocational training looks like when it works. Not just skills — but futures taking shape.
