Medal of Honor Monday: Delta Sgt. Maj. Thomas P. Payne and the Burning Prison in Hawija
Sgt. Maj. Thomas “Patrick” Payne earned the Medal of Honor by cutting through locked prison doors under fire, smoke, and collapsing walls during the 2015 Hawija raid, helping pull 75 hostages out of an Islamic State ex*****on site.
Sgt. Maj. Thomas “Patrick” Payne earned the Medal of Honor in a burning Islamic State prison compound in Iraq, where locked doors, gunfire, smoke, su***de vests, and collapsing walls stood between his assault force and dozens of hostages marked for ex*****on.

Payne entered that night as a seasoned Army special operator. His record shows the kind of career that does not leave much room for ceremony or soft language. Seventeen deployments. Ranger Regiment. U.S. Army Special Operations Command. Purple Heart. Best Ranger Competition winner. Then, on Oct. 22, 2015, Hawija.

We are praying for Tom and Michelle Valle--Tom is being considered for pastor at an English Taiwanese church in the Metroplex and we provided a place for him to be videoed preaching to give to the church as part of his resume. Tom is fluent in Chinese and the Valles were part of the Elmdale community before moving. We are confident God has a plan for them wherever they will be used for Him!
