The building God blessed us with to worship Him in and fellowship as a congregation was a total loss last night to a fire. Prayers are greatly appreciated for the congregation that met here. God has a plan we will trust Him and follow His plan.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭29‬:‭11‬-‭13‬

“But I, brothers, could not address you as spiritual people, but as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬
Oh Paul would probably be an unemployed minister in today’s western church. The church should be able to be addressed as spiritual people, but it has to be addressed as “people of the flesh” instead because in our stubbornness, hard headness, pride, and stuck in the “that’s the way I am” mentality, we refuse to walk in a spiritual way, think in a spiritual way, and live in a spiritual way! The things of God are spiritual not fleshly, they don’t make sense to the flesh, they step out of the box of what we think should happen and how we think it should happen. The enemy has done a great job of getting the church to believe that things have to be done a certain way and anything outside of that is wrong. Can you imagine the impact the church would have if they would get their “brilliant” ideas out of the way of Gods spiritual ways! The Word tells us to walk by faith not by understanding!

“The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭2‬:‭14‬
“The natural person” As I read this scripture I began to realize in life when I begin to throw a fit or get upset because things don’t go MY way, I am choosing to allow the natural person take precedence over the spiritual person that I am suppose to be through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The church would be so much better off if its members would stop giving in to the natural person and live according to the spirit. The natural person is selfish and self centered, the spiritual person loves to see people come to know Jesus as Savior, loves to see marriages restored, families restored, and they are willing to set themselves, their opinions, THEIR ways aside for the benefit of others.

“And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭2‬:‭13‬
Probably one of the greater struggles in the church, is trying to bring fleshly understanding into a spiritual and super natural setting. It’s a great reminder that when we are involved in the things of God we are involved in spiritual and super natural things. If we can keep this at the forefront of our mind I believe we can stop trying to make sense of the spiritual things that happen and are said around us. Maybe if we can keep this at the forefront of our minds we can accept words of love and accountability that come from another spiritual brother or sister and not get our britches in a wad! Just imagine if the church could show up on Sunday with no schedule, no agenda, no ideas, and just here we are God lead us by your Spirit. I love how Paul reminds the church here, “words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit.”

“these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭2‬:‭10‬
How often do we get frustrated in our walk with Christ? Often the frustration comes from us thinking that God is not communicating to us or with us. In all honesty I don’t believe that’s the problem! At the moment of salvation for us the scripture tells us we are sealed with the Spirit until the day of redemption, the Holy Spirit is our SIM card to the network of God! So we have the Holy Spirit dwelling inside of us, the problems is we so much stuff piled up in our life that continues to push and quite the Holy Spirit to what sounds like a whisper to us, all because God is not top priority in our life. So maybe the moment we start to get frustrated and think God is not communicating with us, we need to step back and self evaluate, are we communicating with Him, have we become so busy He sounds like a whisper, have we allowed other stuff or people to take His rightful place in our lives? Enjoy the holiday that has been given by God and be thankful for the men and women have given their lives so that we cannot only enjoy this holiday but be able to walk in this faith freely.
