This week’s message is “Correcting Error With Grace” from 2 Timothy 2:24–26.

How should Christians respond when someone is wrong? Scripture calls us to stand firmly for truth, but it also commands us to correct with gentleness, patience, humility, and a desire for restoration.

In this message, we will consider the mandate for correction, the manner of correction, and the motive behind it. We will also see why biblical discernment is not just about recognizing error, but about responding in a way that reflects the character of Christ.

Who is really in control of your words, your plans, and your future?

In Lesson 14 of our Living Faith study through the book of James, we come to James 4:11–17, where James confronts two subtle expressions of pride: judging other people and presuming upon tomorrow.

James reminds us that there is only one Judge and only one Lord over the future. Our responsibility is not to take God's place, but to live faithfully beneath His authority.

In this verse-by-verse study, we will examine:

Why gossip and slander are serious spiritual issues
The difference between biblical discernment and a condemning spirit
Why Christians must be careful not to assume God's place as Judge

How does a church become spiritually mature and discerning in an age of confusion?

In Acts 20:28–31, the apostle Paul gives a serious charge to the elders of the church at Ephesus. Shepherds are called to watch over themselves, faithfully care for the flock, protect God's people from false teaching, and equip believers to become grounded in truth.

In this message from our series Anchored in Truth: Growing in Discernment in an Age of Confusion, we will see that faithful shepherding is not about building dependence upon a pastor or personality. It is about helping God's people know His Word, recognize error, grow toward spiritual maturity, and faithfully follow Jesus Christ—the Chief Shepherd of His church.

How does real love confront false beliefs?

What does it really mean to draw near to God?

In Part 2 of Lesson 13 in our Living Faith study through the book of James, we pick up in James 4:8–10, where James gives believers a direct call to return to close fellowship with God.

James writes:

“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” — James 4:8

This is both an invitation and a promise. Even when we have wandered, allowed sin into our lives, or become divided in our devotion, God calls us to come back to Him. But drawing near involves more than emotion—it requires genuine repentance, cleansing, humility, and a renewed surrender to God.

In this study, we will examine what James means when he calls us to cleanse our hands and purify our hearts, why genuine repentance takes sin seriously, and why humility is essential to restoring our fellowship with God.

We will also consider the powerful promise found in James 4:10:

“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.”

The world tells us to promote ourselves, defend ourselves, and make sure others recognize us. God's way is different. He calls us to humble ourselves before Him and trust Him with the outcome.

If you have drifted spiritually, James reminds us that the answer is not to continue running from God. The answer is to come home.

God does not call the wandering believer to run away from Him, but to draw near to Him.

Why do conflicts arise in our lives, our relationships, and even within the church? James tells us that many of the battles taking place around us actually begin with a battle taking place within us.

In Lesson 13 of our Living Faith study through the book of James, we come to James 4:1–10. James confronts selfish desires, worldly attitudes, pride, and spiritual compromise—but he does not leave us without hope. Right in the middle of this strong warning comes one of the most encouraging truths in the passage:

“But He gives more grace.” — James 4:6

God's grace is greater than our failures, and He calls His people to return to Him through humility, submission, and genuine repentance.

In this verse-by-verse study, we will examine:

Why many outward conflicts begin within the heart
How selfish desires can become sinful demands
What James means by “friendship with the world”
Why God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble
What it means to submit to God and resist the devil
The wonderful promise of James 4:8: “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you”
Why genuine repentance takes sin seriously
What it means to humble ourselves before the Lord

James gives us a clear path back to close fellowship with God: recognize the desires within our hearts, reject friendship with the world, receive God's greater grace, submit to God, resist the devil, draw near to God, repent of sin, and humble ourselves before the Lord.
