OUR BELIEFS
What do Disciples believe? Like most Christians, Disciples affirm:

Jesus Christ is the son of the Living God, and offers saving grace to all
All persons are God’s children


Beliefs and practices usually associated with Disciples include:

Open Communion. The Lord’s Supper or Communion is celebrated

in weekly worship. It is open to all who believe in Jesus Christ. Disciples are called together around one essential of faith: belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Persons are free to follow their conscience guided by the Bible, the Holy Spirit, study and prayer, and are expected to extend that freedom to others. Baptism by immersion. In baptism, the old self-centered life is set aside, and a new life of trust in God begins. Although Disciples practice baptism by immersion, other baptism traditions are honored. Belief in the oneness of the church. All Christians are called to be one in Christ and to seek opportunities for common witness and service. The ministry of believers. Both ministers and lay persons lead in worship, service and spiritual growth.

⛪ Join Us This Sunday! 🙏

We are excited to welcome Rev. Graham Watson as our guest preacher this Sunday, August 30th!

Graham is the son of Wayne and Muffy Watson and grew up right here in Abilene, attending First Christian Church and participating in church camp. Our FCC family was blessed to support Graham throughout his ordination process as he answered God’s call to ministry.

Now, we have the joy of welcoming one of our very own back home to share God’s Word with us while Pastor Greg is on sabbatical.

💙 Come join us this Sunday as we welcome Graham and hear the message God has placed on his heart!

Johnnie Lou is a former member of FCC Abilene and holds a special connection to our church family. She now resides in Midland with her husband, Bruce.

We look forward to welcoming Johnnie Lou back and hearing the message she has prepared for us. We hope you’ll join us tomorrow!
