Dear Members and Friends of EBC,

Please note that we will be hosting the annual Maundy Thursday joint worship service at 7PM, April 2. Along with prayers, singing, and Scripture readings, Pastor Jamie Bonnema will be preaching. We will observe the Lord's Supper together and an offering will be taken for the Salina Rescue Mission. Following the service, light snacks will be served downstairs. Do join us for worship and fellowship.

We are also hosting a brunch on Easter Sunday, April 5 at 9:30AM. We will be gathering downstairs for a short time of prayers and singing before eating together. You are welcome to join us. Our Lord's Day service will begin as usual at 10:45AM and we will be focusing upon the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

If you cannot be with us for these meetings, please do keep them in your prayers and have a blessed and meaningful holiday season.

God bless you,
Pastor Dwight

PS - Here are two resurrection quotes. One is regarding our resurrection and the other is about the Lord Jesus' resurrection.

"We are more sure to arise out of our graves than out of our beds."
English Puritan Thomas Watson

"The evidence for Jesus' resurrection is so strong that nobody would question it except for two things: First, it is a very unusual event. And second, if you believe that it happened, you must change the way you live."
German theologian Wolfhart Pannenberg

Dear Members and Friends of Ebenezer,
This is your friendly reminder of our special prayer time scheduled for Tuesday evening, March 24, 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the church building. Those of us who were able to gather for the Saturday morning prayer time were blessed. As is our usual practice, some of us will be there for the entire time but do feel free to drop in and join us for however long you are able. We will be praying for all things Ebenezer Baptist Church as well as for our county, state, country, and the world. Hope you can join us for all or some of the time. If you cannot join us in person, please seek to set time aside to join us in prayer wherever you may be.
Thank you and God bless,
Pastor Dwight

PS - Note that April 2 is Maundy Thursday and we will be hosting the annual joint worship service with New Basel Church and Mt. Pleasant Church. More details to follow soon.

Dear Members and Friends of EBC,

This past Monday night (Dec. 2) at about 9:30pm Chester Strobel was called home at the age of 91. He is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and reunited with his dear wife Elaine. Chester spent decades as a pastor and then served in other types of ministry. He served here at Ebenezer as a deacon and elder. He is already missed.

Funeral services will be at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Friday, December 12 at 2pm. Gifts in Chester's memory may be given to either the JC Pregnancy Center of Junction City or to Ebenezer Baptist Church. Please be praying for the Strobel family as they gather to grieve his departure but also to celebrate Chester's life.

God bless,
Pastor Dwight

Dear Members and Friends of EBC,

Please note that we will not be having our regular Sunday School and Morning Worship Service this Lord's Day, August 24 as we have been invited to join Hope Community Church for worship in the Hope City Park at 10 AM followed by a potluck lunch. This means do not come to the Ebenezer building but go directly to the park in Hope. Please bring a casserole and/or dessert if you can. Salads are good too but remember we will be outside with no refrigeration. Please bring a lawn or folding chair if you can. I will bring a few extra. Wear a hat. Drinks will be provided. Pray that this will be a profitable time of getting connected with a sister church and of being a witness to the community. They are welcome to join us for both the service and the lunch.

September 6, Saturday is the annual Hope Heritage Festival. Once again I will have a literature table set up for Ebenezer. Pray for good weather, good conversations and that a good deal of Bibles, NT's, Gospels, booklets, and tracts will be circulated.

Thanks for your prayers and support.
God bless,
Pastor Dwight

Dear Members and Friends of Ebenezer,
Thanks for your continued prayers for us. I wish to share a couple of thoughts regarding EBC which have been on my mind off and on lately. May someone reading this be prompted to drop in for a visit or recommend us to someone who is searching either for a church, truth, meaning, or they are not sure what. Our worship is mostly traditional and we try not to stray from Biblical guidelines. Our dress is mostly causal. Our hearts are aimed toward a balance of joy and reverence. We are serious about the Bible being God's inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word. We are confident that the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is true. We proclaim Jesus' sinless life, sin-bearing death, sin-conquering resurrection, and sin-banishing return. You are welcome to join us for corporate worship each Lord's Day morning at 10:45 AM. Come early at 10:15 for coffee, snacks, and conversation.

God bless each of you,
Pastor Dwight

Hope you are having joyful and thankful (and delicious!) Independence Day celebrations. Please continue to pray for our nation and its leaders. If you can take the time, do read or listen to a recitation of the Declaration of Independence. Max McLean does a nice reading - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uE-tqe0xsQ Here is link to a clip of a dramatization of the vote for independence from the "John Adams" miniseries. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8dNUOqHQGo

Dear EBC Members and Friends,

Please be praying for us as we take up an exposition of the Epistle of James beginning this Lord's Day. Martin Luther, a Reformation hero, got a lot of things right, but not everything. He is reported to have said at one time that he regarded the Epistle of James as a "right strawy epistle" as in his view it contradicted Paul. On the contrary, we hold it to be a "right helpful epistle." It is full of Biblical, practical wisdom. You are welcome to join us as we go through this portion of Holy Scripture.

Note that funeral service for Robert Carey will be held on Saturday morning, June 21. The graveside service will be at 10:30AM in the Ebenezer Cemetery. The memorial service follows in the Ebenezer Baptist Church building at 11:00AM. After the memorial service, attendees are welcome to move down to the church basement for lunch.

Your prayers are highly valued. God bless you.
Pastor Dwight

Dear Members and Friends of Ebenezer,

Thank you for praying for the joint DVBS program with New Basel and Mount Pleasant Presbyterian churches. The program concluded on Saturday morning, May 31, with a parents' program, a rodeo (with stick horses the kids had made in crafts class), and a pulled pork/shredded chicken dinner with the fixings. Everyone seemed to have good time. The weather was great for the outdoor events.

Fifty-nine children had signed up. Top attendance was fifty-six. No injuries (major) were reported. There were a few tummy aches but most stayed healthy. Some adults ran out of energy at times. Though there are no known professions of faith from the program, the gospel was presented throughout the curriculum and most children were very engaged and worked hard on their songs and memorization tasks. We pray this will bear fruit in their lives in the future. Once gain, thanks for praying and thanks very much to all EBC folks who participated in various ways.

This year's missions project was the JC Pregnancy Center of Junction City. The children collected about $250.00 for the Center. A representative of the Gideons came to distribute New Testaments to the older children. These are the same which are given to clients of the Center and are bookmarked at Psalm 139.

God bless,
Pastor Dwight
