Mission Abilene (Official)

Mission Abilene (Official) COME AS YOU ARE. LEAVE DIFFERENT. Our worship is free, exciting and non-traditional. Those 5 people were eager to learn about Jesus Christ.
(356)

We are a multi-denominational congregation with members from all social, economic, ethnic, educational and religious backgrounds. Our congregation is a body of Christ for individuals who desire freedom in worship no matter where they are in their spiritual walk. In 1996 in a little rundown backyard with 5 people either homeless or poor a Bible study was birthed by Mark Hewitt and Love and Care Min

istries. After 6 months of faithfully attending and faithfully inviting people to come this little Bible study grew to 30 people. In 1997 with the assistance of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, a church was formed called The Mission. In April of 2004 Chad Mitchell became the lead pastor. Under his leadership The Mission continued to grow and grow, in fact grow so much that the sanctuary was maxed to capacity. As a result of God's blessing, in November of 2004 The Mission acquired a new building which was generously given by the Shelton Foundation. Today, it sits at the corner of Nth 3rd & Mockingbird in Abilene, Texas. Though our community gathering space has changed, our message has not. As you walk into the church you will see a sign that says A CHURCH OPEN TO ALL PEOPLE. As of January 2007 The Mission became an independent church, known as MISSION ABILENE solely depending on its community members for support. AVERAGE WEEKLY SCHEDULE:
Sunday, 10:45 am - Praise & Worship service (Praiseland Kids & our Youth meet together after the praise service during the sermon time. A nursery is provided for babies and toddlers birth-3 yrs old.) Tuesday, 6:30 pm - Celebrate Recovery
Wednesday, 6:00 pm - Women's UNTAMED Bible Study
Thursday, 7:00 pm - Thursday Evening Bible Study

350 Strong. That’s what we are calling the initiative to retire our church mortgage in 3 years. And our goal is simple. It’s 350 people. $1000 each. Three Years. One shared mission.

Our church building is more than just brick and mortar. It’s a place where families and friends worship God. Where our families grow together in faith, where our children learn the Word of God and where our community finds prayer, hope and help. Retiring our debt will allow more resources to support ministry, discipleship, outreach, children and families, and service to our community.

In Nehemiah 2:18, God’s people said, “Let us rise up and build”. Then they strengthened their hands for the good work. We believe that this is our opportunity to unite in faith and strenghthen the future of Mission Abilene.

You can fulfill a $1000 commitment through:
- a one time gift of $1000.00
- approximately $333.33 per year for three years.
- approximately $27.78 per month for 36 months.

And if $1000 is not possible, every faithful gift matters. Give prayerfully and willingly - because God loves a cheerful giver.

Will you become one of the 350?
Just a reminder we are not affiliated with Love and Care Ministries and are not funded or supported by them since at least 2014. In fact, we are not receiving financial support from any other church or ministry. So Every donation matters. We can do this together.

Contact us today and let’s join together in this work.

Mission Family, please pray for the family, friends, and loved ones of Randy "Hippie" Blaylock. Though he had no home of his own, he was always willing to share what he had and made certain that his friends around him got fed when he had it to share. His life was hard, but he was a kindhearted man. He will be missed on the streets of Abilene.

Abilene, Texas- Randall Eugene Blaylock, also known as “Randy” or “Hippie” passed away August 22, 2026.

Memorial service is pending.

Arrangements with Girdner Funeral Home, Abilene.

All our Big Country Students have begun a new year of education!
We are so very grateful to KRBC's Tools for School, Nexstar, & the people of the Big Country for providing so many supplies to help our students start the year confident and prepared. We were able to provide all or almost all requested supplies from school supply lists to 70 students (AND COUNTING!) right here at home and across the Big Country. We wanna give a special shoutout to Danny Sims and his team for all their work organizing this year's Tools for Schools and getting the supplies to us! You are a blessing!
For the older students, we still have some supplies remaining if you have learned you need specific school tools for your classes! Just contact us by private message or call 325-232-8258.

To all of our Mission Abilene family and Facebook followers, we are beginning a new initiative for our church. It’s called 350 Strong. We are looking to finally retire our debt of $350.000 for our church building. And I can’t wait to share more information with each of you on Sunday morning. However, on Thursday morning, If you will tune in to KGNZ beginning at 7:45 a.m. I will be going over how each of us can play our part in finally resolving this financial situation.

We feel our church building is more than just brick and mortar. It is a place where people of all walks of life worship God and families grow in faith. Retiring this debt will allow us to focus more resources to disciple, provide outreach to children and their families and allows us to service our community better.

In Nehemiah 2:18, God’s people said, “Let us rise up and build” Then they strengthened their hands for the good work. We believe this is our opportunity to unite in faith and truly strenghten the future of our church.

I love all of you and look forward to sharing this vision God has laid on my heart.

In His Strength,
Pastor Billy
