🌹 For Those Who Know the Value of What Endures 🌹
Coming to Tour of Tables on February 8: 🌸 A table being designed in honor of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, “The Little Rose”, will feature a donation to our altar society, detailed below.
This donation from our friend Ann Steel features an exceptional grouping of Lenox ivory porcelain and gold-trimmed table pieces, complemented by carefully selected vintage accents. For those familiar with fine tableware, several things immediately stand out:
• Coordinated Lenox forms and finishes that are increasingly difficult to replace
• Sculptural accessories — swan bowl, handled basket, porcelain rose — no longer commonly produced in this level of detail
• Matching vases that work as a true set rather than isolated pieces
• A richly patterned Staffordshire floral tray from England, offering contrast and depth to the table
Complete or near-complete groupings like this are becoming harder to find — not because they were rare when made, but because so few survived decades of moves, downsizing, and changing tastes together.
For anyone who has ever tried to replace a single Lenox piece — or track down a discontinued form with intact gold trim — you already know the value here goes well beyond aesthetics. These are pieces meant to be used, displayed, and handed on.
All of these items will be available by auction and raffle, with proceeds directly supporting our mission. For collectors, this is a rare chance to acquire beautiful pieces and contribute to something enduring.
More photographs and details will be shared — including the full table as it comes together. 🌹
