This is a great reminder from the Aberdeen Police Department!

We love seeing visitors enjoying a walk through the cemetery with their pets. We simply ask that pets remain properly leashed and that all pet waste is cleaned up and disposed of properly.

🐾 Friendly Reminder to Aberdeen Dog Owners 🐾

We all love getting outside with our four-legged friends! Just a friendly reminder that when you're out and about in Aberdeen, please keep your dog properly leashed and under control.

Aberdeen City Municipal Code Sec. 8-32 addresses animals running at large and requires pets to be properly restrained when away from their owner's property. Generally, non-retractable leashes are limited to 6 feet, and retractable leashes must be shortened to 6 feet when within 32 feet of another person or animal.

Even the friendliest dog can make another person or another dog nervous. Keeping your dog leashed helps prevent unexpected encounters and keeps our sidewalks, parks, neighborhoods, pets, and residents safer.

🐕 Of course, city-designated off-leash dog parks are the exception.

Thank you for being a responsible pet owner and helping make Aberdeen a safe and enjoyable community for everyone two-legged and four-legged alike! 🐾

If you haven't seen it yet, give this a watch! A great story about two volunteers doing amazing work cleaning and restoring monuments while preserving the memories of those interred in their respective cemeteries.

We are extremely lucky to have Tasha “Graveyard Girl” here in Aberdeen. The work she does to clean, restore, and care for our monuments is truly remarkable—and there is no doubt that some of this important work might not get done without her dedication and passion.

Thank you, Tasha, for helping preserve the history and memories of those who came before us!

“Graveyard Girl” and “The Cemetery Guy” may clean and repair stones, but their real mission is preserving the lives, stories, and history carved into them.

As part of our effort to return decorations to the families who placed them, we have moved the remaining decorations from storage to an outdoor pickup area by our storage garage.

If you believe you have decorations to retrieve, please stop by between 7:00 a.m. and sunset to pick them up. We kindly ask that you only take decorations belonging to you or your family and leave the storage containers, as they are the property of Riverside Memorial Cemetery.

Our goal is to reunite these items with their rightful owners. However, we have exceeded our standard 10-day grace period and are running out of storage space. All remaining decorations must be picked up by Monday, August 3. Beginning August 4, any unclaimed items will be donated or disposed of in accordance with cemetery policy.

As a reminder, decorations that are not placed in an approved permanent vase are permitted only during the following periods:
• May 8 – June 24
• November 1 – April 1

Glass vases are not permitted and will be removed immediately.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping us keep Riverside Memorial Cemetery beautiful and well maintained for all who visit.

We appreciate the Smith family from Groton for choosing Riverside Pet Remembrance Park as the final resting place for Nestle, Molly, and Sunshine, their beloved dogs. This occasion marks the inaugural interments in our Pet Remembrance Park at Riverside Memorial Cemetery, celebrating the lives of three outstanding dogs.
