This morning, I reflected on Isaiah 10:1-2 "Woe to those who make unjust laws to those who issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor(other people who lack one thing or another) of their rights,......" Poverty is structural- can be planned, as in our corrupt tendencies when what is meant for the service/benefit of others is STOLEN by one or a few!. When laws are made in contravention of the law of God. Such laws injure persons, grab their property like land, etc, oppress the poor and protect the wicked. As I considered my country Uganda, I saw something of the sort! Why was the Mineral Act that granted 17% royalty changed to 7% in the case of Oil and gas which is supposed to be a windfall, why was the Public Order Management Act(POMA) enacted when agitation for reforms commenced, even the lifting of limits on almost everything, etc. These and others occupied my mind. Were they(enacted laws) really for JUSTICE or RIGHTEOUSNESS? Your answer is as good as mine. Yes they are legal, I hear someone tell me BUT do they serve justice or are they right? For Bible students/readers, it goes to show that we MUST rely on the Spirit to determine right from wrong. According to John 6:63 "The Spirit gives life....". The written law brings death. In the book of Exodus 32:28, on the day of the law, 3000 people died. While on the day of Pentecost - the coming of the Spirit, as per Acts 2:41, people, 3000 of them received salvation- got life. Sister/brother, please embrace the Spirit today - receive salvation and have/enjoy life eternal. God bless you and yours.

Today at service we shall reflect on what made David to be described as "a man after God's heart" as in 1 Samuel 13:13-14 & Acts 13:22. This is despite and inspite of David commitiing adultery, killing the woman's husband, his son ra**ng his sister, a son killing a brother, a son called Absolum rebelling and being killed in the ensuing battle and may be other challenges. Definitely, David had "ups and downs of life", like we ALL, except none, have. Never be deceived that some people have it ALL going together WELL!! Hakiri mwana murungi talema na bindi. About 10 aspects made David to be described by God as being after God's heart - being compliant with God's intent, will, etc.David was: humble, trusting, respectful, reverent, loving, devoted, faithful, obedient, recognized God as God BUT more importantly REPENTANT. Read Psalm 51 that he wrote after being confronted wisely by Nathan - a prophet of God in 2 Samuel 12. David in Ps 51:4 says:"Against you(God), you only, have I sinned....". Any sin we commit is against God!! Everyday we kill others when we call them "fools" - as per Matthew 5:21-22. So look out for the "Bathshebas" - I at times call them "bathing shebas" - things that attract, please avoid them! They lead one on a "roll coaster". Identify those in your lives and be repentant like David. God bless our Sunday and always.
