On 14th October 2025 we received representative from our community-based Children’s workers. The had come to see how we can team up and together to save children in Masaka District. These were Sister Kyomigisga Scovia and Sister Nantege Maria from The Grail – Kitovu. They are under the main association of religious child care in Uganda is Catholic Care for Children in Uganda (CCCU), an initiative of the Association of Religious in Uganda (ARU). It works to transition children from residential institutions to family- and community-based care, with a focus on strengthening religious institutes to lead child care reforms. The program provides training, support for family reintegration, and advocacy for child protection.
The issues discussed involved community-led initiatives, professional support, and a focus on providing a safe and nurturing environment through a combination of grassroots efforts and structured programs. We discussed on building community-owned solutions, reforming local agencies, supporting parents, and ensuring children's basic needs like education and safety are met through multi-faceted approaches.
