THURSDAY MORNING DEVOTION
April 23, 2026
*The Roaring Enemy*
*_Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you: James 4:7, 8._*
An enemy is someone who harbours hatred against you and intends to harm you. The enemy, out of his own envious will, might deliberately cause you to feel bad or upset your emotions. An enemy wishes to see your downfall and to laugh at playing malicious tricks on you.
Satan is the enemy of God's children. The Bible says in 1 Peter 5:8 (NIV), Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.' Satan is likened to a roaring lion on the prowl for prey- which means he can go to any length to carry out his malicious schemes. The only way to deal with him is to know about him and to become more prepared for his schemes. Therefore, the Bible warns Christians to remain watchful and sober. The word watchful' refers to being on guard. It brings to mind the idea of guarding a facility. Our situation requires diligence, discernment, and caution.
Christians should develop vigilance and sobriety and avoid carelessness. Even when you feel safe and free from danger, always be on your guard against temptations to sin. Be sober in your choice of words; be sober in what you consume in the media; be sober in your friendships; and be sober in your prayers, because the devil prowls around like a roaring lion.
_Today's prayer: Father in Heaven, may You strengthen me against the enemy as I watch and pray. In Jesus' name I pray -amen!_
GOOD MORNING DEAR FRIENDS AND HAPPY DAY.
