Ongoing cut down of Mukambwe Central Forest Reserve in Busuubizi in Mityana Municipality

The land was allocated to some some politicians in Mityana among them ; the Mayor of Mityana Municipality and Mayor of Ttamu Division plus other unsuspecting members of the community who later sold land away at 2m per acre under the umbrella Gingo Tree Growers Group.

Such conflict of interest and lawlessness must be condemned

Some leaders in Mityana Municipality allegedly conived under the umbrella Jingo Tree Growers Group, used their influence to allocate themselves Mukambwe Centeral Forest Reserve in Mityana Municipality (Busuubizi Ward)

Below is how some of them shared the land.

Bazzeketta 2 acres Mayor Ttamu Division
Mukambwe Lukonge 5 acres Mayor -Mityana Municipality
Africano Aharikundira 7 acres (this one is a former RDC)

And others

The community members who got land sold it out for 2m each acre , some of these leaders also sold the land while others are cultivating it.

For a leader to partake of forest land in such under such an arrangement is itself a conflict of interest and double standards.

The information was first shared by MR. Kakwenza Rukirabashaija on his X account. I followed up the matter and acquired revealing information.

We have formally made requests for documents relating to this allocation and the matter will subsequently be foward to the IGG and the Committee of Parliament of Uganda on Environment and Natural Resources. Leaders can't be this greedy.

We remain committed to ensuring women land rights, access to water resources and advocating for an end to Gender Based Violance (GBV), gender sensitive budgets for equitable services delivery and placing women at the forefront of promoting environmental integrity.
