“However, their minds were hardened, for to this day the same veil is still there when they read the old covenant. Only in union with the Messiah is that veil removed. Yet even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. But whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is removed.” (2 Corinthians 3:14-16 ISV)
People often ask, “Is giving tithe, first fruit or seed relevant in the New Testament?” Certainly! Whenever Paul the apostle taught on giving or finances, he quoted Old Testament Scriptures. In 1 Timothy 5:17-18, he said, “Let the elders who perform the duties of their office well be considered doubly worthy of honor [and of adequate financial support], especially those who labor faithfully in preaching and teaching. For the Scripture says, You shall not muzzle an ox when it is treading out the grain…” (AMP) He quoted this from Deuteronomy 25:4.
2 Corinthians 9:9-10 says “(As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever. Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)” (KJV) Verse nine is quoted from Psalm 112:9 and verse ten from Isaiah 55:10.
In Matthew 23:23, Jesus said, “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cu**in, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.” (KJV) Jesus was basically telling them that they should have exercised justice, mercy and faith in addition to giving their tithe.
All Scriptures were written by the inspiration of God. Whenever you read Scriptures in the Old Testament section of your Bible, interpret them with the revelation of Christ and they will be profitable to you.
CONFESSION
As I study the Word of God, the Holy Spirit teaches me. He gives me revelation in the knowledge of God. My mind is open to comprehend the message of Christ throughout the Scriptures. The Word of God is profitable to me for doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness. I am perfect and entire, lacking nothing. I am well equipped for every good work. Hallelujah!
FURTHER STUDY
2 Timothy 3:16-17 KJV
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: (17) That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
1 Corinthians 9:9-10 KJV
For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? (10) Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.
