THE CORNET DAILY DEVOTIONAL

TALK RIGHT

Tuesday 2nd June, 2026
Pastor David Omongole

“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.” (Luke 6:45 KJV)

How does a good man bring forth good from the good treasure of his heart? With words! How does an evil man bring forth evil from the evil treasure of his heart? With words! For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks! When you train your tongue to speak the Word of God, your words will be potent. Whatever you say shall be established.

First it starts with your own life; whatever you declare about your life happens. Then it moves to your family; whatever you say about your family happens. Then it moves to the community you are in. Whatever you say concerning that community happens. Before you know it, you speak words over nations and they are established because your sphere of influence has increased.

This starts with training yourself to talk right. Talk well about your country. Do not join those who say things like, “This is such a bad country. There is so much suffering in this country.” Being in the opposition political party in your country does not justify talking negatively about the country or the leaders. Psalms 33:5 says, “…the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.” (KJV) There must be something good in the country you are in, talk about that good thing. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION
I bring forth good out of the good treasure of my heart by speaking wholesome words. With the Word of God in my mouth, I am reigning as a king on the earth. Whatsoever I speak is established in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the power of the Spirit. Hallelujah!

SPEAK THE WORD OF GOD

Monday 1st June, 2026
Pastor David Omongole

“…If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.” (James 3:2 KJV)

The way you talk reveals how you are growing in the Word of God. Ephesians 4:15 says, “…speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:” (KJV) He is talking about speaking the Word of God in love, the Word of God is truth. How are you talking the Word of God?

Refrain from saying things that are not consistent with God’s Word. If you for example say, “I really need money right now. If only I had money, I would do such and such a thing.” It sounds innocent but it is negative. You are basically saying that you have not done that thing because money said you cannot do it.

Do not give money the place of master over your life. Matthew 6:24 says, “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” (KJV)

You are called to live by faith and not by sight. If God has given you His Word, act on it. Do not wait until you have a certain amount of money in your bank account. Simply respond to God’s Word in faith. God will ensure that whatever resources are required for you to fulfil His Word are availed.

CONFESSION
I control my life with my words. As I speak the Word of God, I align my future to God’s will. Money is my servant, not my master. I use money to promote God’s righteous cause. God gives me all things richly to enjoy. I am amply supplied with all the resources necessary for me to live a godly life. Hallelujah!

POWER IN THE TONGUE II

Sunday 31st May, 2026
Pastor David Omongole

“While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God…” (Acts 10:44-46 KJV)

As Peter was speaking the Word of God in the house of Cornelius, the Holy Ghost fell on the people who heard the Word. The Holy Spirit responded to the words Peter spoke and the people were filled with the Holy Spirit, they spoke with tongues and magnified God.

By this time, Peter had learnt about the power in the tongue. Do you remember the story of Ananias and Sapphira? They did not die because God hated them, it was Peter’s words that killed them (Acts 5:1-10). In Acts 8 when Simon the sorcerer wanted to buy the gift of God with money, Peter rebuked him but he did not die (Acts 8:9-24). Peter had learnt that his tongue had power and he did not use it rashly. This is what God expects of us.

He wants us to tame our tongues in such a way that He can use them for His glory. You can come to a place where your words are so respectable that God can respond to them. This starts with you honoring your words. If you have been talking anyhow, study to be quiet. Put on self-control. Meditate on the Word of God so much so that whenever you talk, only the Word of God comes forth.

In the house of Cornelius, Peter stirred up the glory of the Spirit by speaking the Word of God. You can stir up the same glory in your life by speaking the Word of God. When you meet up with a fellow brother or sister, talk the Word of God and you will see the glory of God. Even in your family, have time to talk the Word of God, the glory of God will be manifest. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION
I train my tongue to speak words that build and edify. I give myself wholly to the Word of God, meditating on it day and night. I keep the Word of God in my mouth. As I speak the Word, I observe to do according to all that is written therein. I make my way prosperous and have good success. My life is full of glory. Hallelujah!

POWER IN THE TONGUE I

Saturday 30th May, 2026
Pastor David Omongole

“Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body. Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven by fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small rudder, wherever the pilot desires. Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasts great things. Behold, how great a forest a little fire kindles!” (James 3:3-5 KJ2000)

James likens the tongue to the small rudder that the captain of a ship turns to direct the ship even amidst fierce winds. You can direct the course of your life with your tongue regardless of how fierce the storms you face are. If the storms are saying sickness and death, you can use your tongue to say no and declare perfect health and long life. Hallelujah!

In the following verses, James proceeds to talk about people who misuse the tongue, “We use our tongue to praise God our Father and then turn around and curse a person who was made in his very image! Out of the same mouth we pour out words of praise one minute and curses the next. My brothers and sisters, this should never be!” (James 3:9-10 TPT)

If someone is misusing his tongue, he will not have much power working in his tongue because in the mind of God, his tongue needs to be trained first. Otherwise more people may suffer as a result of his words than those who are being blessed.

Consider someone who wakes up and the first thing he says to his spouse is “Look at this fool.” If all power is at work in his tongue, his spouse will actually manifest foolishness. He may then wonder why he would tell a sick man to be healed and the man is not healed. His tongue still needs training.

You must learn how to use your tongue right if you desire to manifest the magnificent power of God in you. Train yourself to speak only words of blessing. Let your speech be gracious at all times. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION
I direct my life in the way of the Lord with my faith filled words. I speak the Word of God and it comes to reality by the power of the Spirit. I train myself to speak gracious words that are profitable to men. My speech is ever seasoned with salt. I speak the right words at the right time in the right place and to the right people.

PUT A PREMIUM ON WORDS

Friday 29th May, 2026
Pastor David Omongole

“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:63 KJV)

Jesus had respect for the words He spoke because He knew that the Holy Spirit acted on His words. He said, “…The words that I speak to you aren't mere words. I don't just make them up on my own. The Father who resides in me crafts each word into a divine act.” (John 14:10 MSG)

Throughout the Scriptures, God urges us to put a premium on words. He even tells us the kind of jokes not to make. “Like a madman shooting firebrands or deadly arrows is a man who deceives his neighbor and says, "I was only joking!"” (Proverbs 26:18-19 NIV) The things you say with your mouth are not ordinary. Words build and words destroy.

James 3:2 tells us that if any man offend not in word (speech), that man is perfect and able to bridle the whole body. Put a premium on the words you speak. Speak words of health and your life will be full of health only. Speak words of blessing and your life will overflow with God’s blessing. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION
I am mindful of my speech because my words are potent. I speak life and manifest the divine life. I speak health and manifest perfect health. I speak glory and manifest great glory. I speak words of blessing and people all around me are blessed and edified. I am satisfied with the fruit of my mouth every day. Hallelujah!

THE HOLY SPIRIT RESPONDS TO WORDS

Thursday 28th May, 2026
Pastor David Omongole

“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:63 KJV)

Our Lord Jesus said something beautiful about words. He said, “The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life.” Jesus was basically saying that His words were one with the Spirit. Words are unique in such a way that they are both physical and spiritual. Words are physical because they have a physical impact; when words are spoken, you can hear them physically. Words are also spiritual, they can be seen in the realm of the spirit.

In Revelation 5:8, John referred to the prayers of the saints as golden vials full of odours, he was able to see the prayers of the saints. In Acts 10 when an angel appeared to Cornelius, he told him that his prayers and alms had come up for a memorial before God. This shows that words are tangible in the spiritual realm.

The words of Jesus in our theme Scripture show us that the Holy Spirit responds to words. The way you talk therefore has an impact on your fellowship with the Holy Spirit. When you talk the Word of God, the Holy Spirit turns your words into a reality because He is the doer of God’s Word. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION
I am mindful to speak the right words because words are spiritual. I speak forth the Word of God with boldness. The Holy Spirit crafts my words into a glorious reality. I bear the fruit of God’s Word in every aspect of my life. Hallelujah!

STIR UP THE HOLY SPIRIT

Wednesday 27th May, 2026
Pastor David Omongole

“And I will put my Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you shall heed My ordinances and do them.” (Ezekiel 36:27 AMP)

When you stir up the Holy Spirit, you will automatically walk in the statutes of the Lord and do His ordinances. How do you stir up the Holy Spirit? By studying and meditating on the Word of God, speaking in tongues, fellowshipping with the brethren and singing songs which are consistent with the Word of God.

If you do these things consistently, you will walk in the way of the Lord without stumbling. You will find that you do only that which is right and perfect in the sight of God. You will manifest “phronesis” which is the wisdom of the just. Phronesis is automatic wisdom; you just do the right thing by reflex. Have you ever noticed that when a baby is born, no one teaches them how to breastfeed? They just know how to suckle.

This is how God wants your life to be. When you are fully yielded to the Holy Spirit, you will do the right things automatically. Some people have collided with this truth at some point but they were unable to reproduce it because they just didn’t know how. They were going to enter a certain taxi but they did not because they felt a leading not to and it worked to their advantage. This can be your experience everyday if you tune yourself to the leading of the Spirit of God. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION
I give myself wholly to the Word of God. I speak the Word of God with boldness. I sing songs that are consistent with the present truth of God’s Word. I am fully committed to fellowshipping with the brethren. I speak in tongues daily and stir up the Holy Spirit in me. I am ever filled with the Spirit. Therefore, I walk in the wisdom of the just. I do the right thing at the right time and in the right place by reflex. Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY
Luke 1:17 KJV

THE HOLY SPIRIT WORKS IN YOU

Tuesday 26th May, 2026
Pastor David Omongole

“And I will put my Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you shall heed My ordinances and do them.” (Ezekiel 36:27 AMP)

At the time this was written, it was a promise. Today, it has been fulfilled in everyone who believes on the Lord Jesus Christ. From the time you were born again, the Holy Spirit lives in you. The Holy Spirit causes you to walk in the statutes of God and to do His ordinances. The Holy Spirit does not just give you instructions from afar, He is present in you, causing you to do God’s will.

The people who lived in the Old Testament did not have this privilege. The law told them what to do but it did not give them the power to do what it said. The law told them what not to do but it did not give them the power to stop sinning.

The Holy Spirit on the other hand does not only come to teach you the Word of God or to guide you, He also causes you to walk in the truth of God's Word. Philippians 2:13 says, “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” (KJV) The Holy Spirit moves you in God’s direction. He causes you to fulfil God’s Word. As you yield yourself to the working of the Spirit, you will bear the fruit of God’s Word. Praise the Lord!

CONFESSION
The Holy Spirit lives in me. He works in me both the willingness and the ability to do the will of God. The Holy Spirit works with me to fulfil the Word of God in my life. The Holy Spirit directs me and steers me in the right direction. As I yield myself to the Spirit, I advance from glory to glory. I am fruitful in every good work. Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY
Romans 8:3-4 KJV
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: (4) That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Galatians 5:16 AMP
But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the [Holy] Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God).
