Holy Martyrs Pilgrim`s Choir is an all voice invitation vocal ensemble choir founded in month of November 2019 and was officially Launched on the 6th day of June 2021 at St. Amadeo Byandala Munamasaka and to the Holy Ugandan Martyrs, killed during the first decade of Christian presence in Uganda now playing a tremendously important role in constructing a Ugandan Catholic identity and the force tha
t severs Ugandans from a more "authentic" pre-Christian heritage. The Choir derives its name from foot pilgrims who trek to Namugongo every 3rd of June in commemoration of the Ugandan martyrs murdered between 31 January 1885 and 27 January 1887 on orders of King Mwanga. Holy Martyrs Pilgrim`s Choir is an all voice invitation vocal ensemble choir founded in month of November 2019 by some few Choristers (Mr. Napuswa Immaculate) and was officially Launched on the 6th day of June 2021 at St. The hand-picked singers are now experienced performers as well as members of leading choirs and eminent group at St. Austin`s Catholic Church, Mbale and in the entire Archdiocese of Tororo. The choir is headed by two organs i.e., the Technical and Executive. The Head of Technical is the Music Director while the Head of Executive is the Chairperson, under the patronage of the Parish Priest. Holy Martyrs Pilgrim`s Choir has developed an outstanding reputation, enjoying four voices of Soprano, Tenor, Alto and Bass. The choir animates in any mass as per the directives of the parish priest but mostly in the Thursday mass after the Adoration and Benediction which is live on Radio Maria Mbale starting at 3:00PM with the Holy Rosary and Catechesis. Holy Martyrs Pilgrim`s Choir spread its wings in 2020 during the opening of the worship centers in Uganda following the First COVID 19 lockdown, hence developing an overwhelming audience response and has performed at various functions not forgetting travelling to different parts of the country as well as continuing to explore the glorious acoustics and visual inspiration of the historic Catholic church and beyond.
