As a young guy of 7 in 1987, I started reading verses in All Saints Church. That time we were praying under a tamerine (Cwao) tree offered to us by an old woman who later on gave her whole home to the church. There was only one Luo service. Every Sunday people would flock to the church to see the P.2 pupil who knew how to read the bible in Luo so well. The congregation kept on growing. In the same compound were 3 malwa sunday clubs surrounding us. Each group would be playing lingala music and South African songs at the highest volume as if to outcompete one another. The other side of the compound was used for drying 'moko' but we were resilient. Am happy that all the malwa groups later on died. We later built a grass thatched structure that was extended before an iron-roofed church was finally built. Am happy that All Saints Church Obanga Pe Wany now has a Luo service, English and even Luganda service and is the 2nd biggest in the whole diocese in terms of weekly collections. Am also happy that Young boys I started with like Ogwal Isaac and Alur Walter have still kept on with the church.
