Sharpen Your Personal Drive for Increase
Luke 9:51–56
In Luke 9:51–56, Jesus teaches an important lesson about focus, determination, and spiritual maturity. The Bible says that Jesus “set His face toward Jerusalem,” showing His strong commitment to fulfilling God’s purpose despite the challenges ahead. On His journey, the Samaritans rejected Him because He was heading to Jerusalem. James and John became angry and wanted to call down fire from heaven against them, but Jesus rebuked them and continued His mission peacefully.
This passage reminds believers that increase begins with a clear vision and a determined spirit. To sharpen your personal drive for increase, you must stay focused on God’s purpose for your life and refuse to be distracted by rejection, criticism, or disappointment. Increase also requires emotional discipline and spiritual maturity. Jesus showed that responding with anger and revenge does not produce growth.
True increase is not only about material success but also about developing godly character, patience, wisdom, and perseverance. Like Jesus, believers must learn to move forward even when facing opposition. When you remain focused, disciplined, and spiritually mature, God positions you for greater growth, impact, and fulfillment in life and ministry.
