HELEN NAKIMULI LAID TO REST: MAY HER MEMORY BE ETERNAL
At Lunyolya Village in Luweero District, thousands of mourners from across Uganda gathered to bid farewell to the maiden servant of God, Helen Nakimuli.
The burial was presided over by Bishop Nectarios of Gulu, in the presence of Members of Parliament led by the Leader of Opposition, Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi, as well as leaders from Buganda led by Owek. Israel Kazibwe Kitooke.
The President of the National Unity Platform, Helen’s political party, who is currently out of the country, sent his message in a voice recording which was played aloud. His message echoed the sentiments of other speakers, who praised Hon. Helen for her outspokenness and her joyful life. He said: "In her life, we all remember that Nakimuli was full of life; she was an example of positivity—engaged in sports, music, and surrounded by many friends. Unlike many, she refused to be corrupted in Parliament; she could not be silenced.
It is deeply sad that we have lost her. She achieved so much at only 40 years of age. She was an outspoken figure of consistency and courage.
For all the pain, we shall turn it into motivation and keep moving forward. We shall not give up until we build a Uganda that benefits our children and grandchildren. That is the greatest gift we can offer her."
Let us give a parting farewell to the one death has taken, thanking almighty God; she has now departed from all her friends and her kin, and proceeds to her resting place, no more being troubled over things of vanity and the tired flesh.
Memory eternal 🙏
