From r**e and sexual exploitation to child marriage and early pregnancy, COVID-19 has unleashed a myriad of "shadow pandemics" on girls across Africa. We don't give to those in need because we have too much. We give because it is a human act and because it satisfies the soul.
Meet Damali. She is a 15 year old teen mother. She was 10 years old when her and her two siblings dropped out of school ending up at their grandmother's house. Grannie is weak and frail, she cant walk on her own. The burden of feeding and sheltering the family of four is on 15 year old Damali's Shoulders. In search for a job, Damali was taken to a distant town by a certain boy who eventually took her in as her two day concubine and later abandoned her in a rented room with nothing but her two dresses. Damali came back to her grandmother with an unknown pregnancy which nightmare unfolded months later. She has a baby boy and has found a job in a stone quarry at a mountain a distance away from her grandmother's home. She earns $30 (thirty dollars) (about one hundred and ten thousand shillings) a month when luck strikes. Damali would like to take on tailoring classes to be able to start up her personal business to raise her son,her two siblings and look after her sick grandmother. We will need $800 for her tuition, $300 transportation to her private tutor, $100 for her meals while at school, $700 for a sewing machine, $1500 for start up capital in clothing materials and $800 for three months rent. We have seven other teen mothers just like Damali and we need your generous financial donations to raise enough funds to cater for their skill training and business start up.
