God can do without you but you cannot do without God

It is wonderful to talk about prayers, it is great to pray and it is glorious to see prayers answered.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 – Equips people for work.
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.
Psalm 119:105 – Directs the people
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Matthew 4:4 – Makes people live
But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
Joshua 1:8 –The word brings prosperity
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Romans 15:4 –The word brings Hope to the hopeless
For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
1 Peter 2:2 The word causes growth in salvation
Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation—
Psalm 119:10-11 The word guards people from sin
With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
John 1:1 –The word creates
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 15:7 – The word opens closed doors
If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
Ephesians 6:10-17 The word of God makes you win battles
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, ...
Isaiah 55:10-11- The word causes success
“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
John 8:32 The word sets people free
And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
2 Timothy 3:16 The word teaches, rebukes, corrects, trains
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
John 17:17 –The word sanctifies –Makes one holy
Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.
Proverbs 30:5 – The word is a shield
Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

In the end of everything, you must have the word of God because it is what was, what is and what will never pass away. When you know it, it will see you through every situation.

Remember to go to church with a pen and note book this week.

01/08/2013

In Life line ministries, this week in church we were taught the importance of having a small fellowship at home. Some people call it a home cell, others call it a life group but whatever you call it does not matter. The fact is it is very healthy for Christians to get a day or 2 in a week depending on what members can agree on and meet to pray, praise, worship and share the word of God.
It is said that a cell is a small group of people who come together for spiritual nourishment but how small is this small group? It was recommended that 12 adults and below would be a good number for a cell. So when it grows bigger than 12 people, divide it into 2 or more groups. The number can even start as small as 2 or 3 people for where 2 or 3 people are gathered in God’s name, He will be there in their midst.
Not everyone can have the change to share the word of God in the bigger church but a cell is like a mini church which gives opportunity for every member to participate.
This fellowship should be within the community where the members live so that it reduces transport expenses and time wastage in traveling.
The time can be decided upon by the members according to their convenience.
A life group is not only aimed at praise, worship, prayers and the sharing of the word of God. In this fellowship, members will be able to share how they are getting on with life. Members share their lives, they open up to members, pray for one another, share one another’s burdens and on Sundays, they come to celebrate what the lord as done during the week.
Life groups bring about spiritual growth because there is free questioning, in church, you might not have the opportunity to question the preacher but in a cell, no questions should be left un answered. In case there are questions that the members feel that they cannot find the right answers, such questions are forwarded to the church leadership.
A life group is a place of identification of gifts. As all members are given the chance to participate freely, members get to know their strength and build it.
During time of turmoil where prayers is not allowed in worship centers, the life group keeps worship going on in the house.
Members help one another in a life group. You may have challenges in your life and the cell members can bail you out.
A life group is a place we learn to care for members.
This was the message from Life Line ministries headquarters, first service on the 27th 7 2013 preached by Pastor Kenneth Omong, written by Evelyn Evans Lanyero.
Hope this will help those do not belong to a small fellowship at home to start one and strengthen the existing ones…. Remember, even 2 people can start up a home cell so wife and husband can take the first step then invite neighbors ……be blessed as you think of starting one………..

what are the things that you must have when going to church?

18/07/2013

This week on 14th July 2013 in church, we learnt about how the church can be effective in this world. For those who were not with us, read this and be blessed….
The preacher begun his sermon by saying, the church is the body of Christ which Jesus is the head and the believers in Jesus are the different parts. So you are the eyes, ears, leg, hand etc. It is the desire of God that those that believe in Him should be effective on earth. Philippians 2:12.
The following are the things we are to do in order to be effective members of the body of Christ.
1. Awareness of our new nature- A new creation not subject to the laws of nature.
2nd Corinthians 5:17, John 1:12-13, We should be like a sponge which when put in water absorbs water and when squeezed, water comes out. Let us absorb the nature of God so that when the world squeezes us, we shall reveal the nature of God. The devil is always trying to draw the children of God near him and he will never give up. He believes that one day he ‘may’ succeed. Never give the devil that chance to succeed in your life. Be aware of the presence of the Lord that makes you more than a conqueror. The devil operates in the spirit and we live in the body. God has given the body authority to operate in the world. No spirit without the body has the rights to operate on this earth that is why if the devil wants to do anything, he uses the human being on earth. God likewise uses the body of Christ, the church to operate. Knowing this fact will make you effective member of the body of Christ.

2. Knowing that we are not under the law but under grace.
Romans 6:14, John 1:17. When the law says ‘A’ no one can change it to ‘B’ but grace says, ‘you don’t deserve it but you can have it anyway’. By grace, you can receive whatever you want. When you receive Jesus, the limitations are removed. Heb 7: 12-21, John 13:34, Mathew 22:37-40, Ephesians 2:13-16

3. See yourself in the word- see the right picture.
In every situation, see yourself in the word. If you are sick, see yourself healed, when in a problem, see the Lord lifting up the problem, when in lack, see God’s provision etc James 1:23-25, Galatians 3:9, 29, 2 Corinthians 4:18, 2 Corinthians 5:7

4. Don’t look at the waves- don’t look at the problem.
Whenever you are in a challenging situation, don’t move by what you see, feel or hear. Refuse to consider the bad situation. Focus on the solutions of the problem at all times.
Romans 4:19-21,

5. Secure your future through prayers.
Luke 18: 1, James 5:16-18, Daniel 9:2-23
Let your request be known to God through prayers. When you don’t pray, you stay longer in your problem than necessary. For example when you plan to fast and you are presented with a nice dinner out, that one time enjoyment will make you stay longer in your problem which should have gone through that prayer and fasting. If you want to be effective, remember to secure your future through prayer.

This was the message from Life Line ministries headquarters, first service preached by pastor Geoffrey Ojara, written by Evelyn Evans Lanyero.
Be blessed as you strive to become effective in this world.
