THE CORNET DAILY DEVOTIONAL

THE HOLY SPIRIT WORKS IN YOU

Tuesday 26th May, 2026
Pastor David Omongole

“And I will put my Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you shall heed My ordinances and do them.” (Ezekiel 36:27 AMP)

At the time this was written, it was a promise. Today, it has been fulfilled in everyone who believes on the Lord Jesus Christ. From the time you were born again, the Holy Spirit lives in you. The Holy Spirit causes you to walk in the statutes of God and to do His ordinances. The Holy Spirit does not just give you instructions from afar, He is present in you, causing you to do God’s will.

The people who lived in the Old Testament did not have this privilege. The law told them what to do but it did not give them the power to do what it said. The law told them what not to do but it did not give them the power to stop sinning.

The Holy Spirit on the other hand does not only come to teach you the Word of God or to guide you, He also causes you to walk in the truth of God's Word. Philippians 2:13 says, “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” (KJV) The Holy Spirit moves you in God’s direction. He causes you to fulfil God’s Word. As you yield yourself to the working of the Spirit, you will bear the fruit of God’s Word. Praise the Lord!

CONFESSION
The Holy Spirit lives in me. He works in me both the willingness and the ability to do the will of God. The Holy Spirit works with me to fulfil the Word of God in my life. The Holy Spirit directs me and steers me in the right direction. As I yield myself to the Spirit, I advance from glory to glory. I am fruitful in every good work. Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY
Romans 8:3-4 KJV
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: (4) That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Galatians 5:16 AMP
But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the [Holy] Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God).

THE CORNET DAILY DEVOTIONAL

THE SPIRIT OF THE FEAR OF THE LORD II

Monday 25th May, 2026
Pastor David Omongole

“And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;” (Isaiah 11:1-2 KJV)

The Spirit of the fear of the Lord (that is the Spirit of reverence) gives you the ability to do the right thing and say no to the wrong thing. He is the Spirit of grace. Titus 2:11-12 says, “…the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;” (KJV) This is the working of the Spirit of reverence, He patiently trains you to do the will of God.

“Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:” (Hebrews 12:28 KJV) Let us have (receive) grace to serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. How do you get the grace? Come boldly to the throne of grace, that you may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16).

Do not be ashamed to come to the throne of grace because of something wrong you did. Come boldly. “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” (Hebrews 4:15 KJV) Come boldly to the throne of grace and obtain mercy. Mercy is God holding back the punishment you deserve.

Obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. By God’s mercy, you are preserved from punishment. By God’s grace, you are preserved from doing the wrong thing next time. God’s grace energizes you to say no to ungodliness. If you have been struggling with a certain addiction, receive grace to prevail over it. Stir up the Spirit of reverence by prayer. He will help you to live out the Word of God.

CONFESSION
The Spirit of the fear of the Lord works in me, teaching me to deny ungodliness and live righteously, soberly and godly in this present world. The Spirit of grace patiently trains me to walk in the will of God. I obtain mercy at the throne of grace and receive grace to help in time of need. Hallelujah!

Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. (13) For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

The Spirit of the fear of the Lord is the Spirit of reverence. Reverence is your ability to live out the Word of God. Your ability to do what God wants you to do and to reject the wrong thing. The Spirit of God gives you that ability.

This is the beauty of the New Testament, God does not just give you instructions and watch on from afar, no! He comes to live in you by His Spirit and He prompts you to do the right thing. He makes you both willing and able to do what is pleasing to Him.

Stir up the Spirit of the fear of the Lord by praying and you will have reverence for God, reverence for the things of God, reverence for ministry and reverence for the ministers of God. The Spirit of the fear of the Lord will train you to speak reverently and to do things in a manner that is well pleasing to God. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION
The Spirit of the fear of the Lord is present in me. He makes me both willing and able to do the Word of God. The Holy Spirit prompts me to do things which are well pleasing to God. I serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. Hallelujah!

THE SPIRIT OF MIGHT II

Saturday 23rd May, 2026
Pastor David Omongole

“For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;” (Ephesians 3:14-16 KJV)

The Spirit of might strengthens you with might in the inner man. He invigorates you from within. Your body is the house of the inner man. It is possible to feel hungry when what you need is inner strength. If you don’t realize it, you may keep eating and eating and increasing in weight unnecessarily. You gain inner strength by praying.

In our theme Scripture, Paul was praying for the Ephesians to be strengthened with might by the Spirit in the inner man. If he could pray for them, you can make the same prayer for yourself. When you feel weak, speak in tongues. Stir up the Spirit of might in you.

The word “might” (Greek “dunamis”) also means power, miracle working ability. The Spirit of might gives you power. He enables you to do things that you wouldn’t be able to do with human ability. Jesus was able to do the things He did by the Spirit of might. How was He able to pray throughout the night without getting tired? The Spirit of might was working in Him.

At times people start on something (for example ministry, academics or business) but they do not finish. They give up along the way because they are not strengthened inside. When you work with the Spirit of might, you will always be zealous to do good and to accomplish God’s purpose for you. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION
I have the Spirit of might in me. He invigorates me daily on the inside. I stir up inner strength by speaking in tongues. I am endued with the power of the Spirit. I have miracle working ability. I do not lag in zeal. I am fervent in spirit, serving the Lord. I work with the Holy Spirit to accomplish God’s purpose for my life. Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY
Acts 1:8 AMP
But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth.

Romans 12:11-12 AMP
Never lag in zeal and in earnest endeavor; be aglow and burning with the Spirit, serving the Lord. (12) Rejoice and exult in hope; be steadfast and patient in suffering and tribulation; be constant in prayer.

Luke 22:41-43 KJV
And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, (42) Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. (43) And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.

THE SPIRIT OF MIGHT I

Friday 22nd May, 2026
Pastor David Omongole

“And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;” (Isaiah 11:1-2 KJV)

The Spirit of might is the Spirit of energy. He is the one who gives you strength. He gives you both inner strength and physical strength, which also translates to health. A number of believers live in the realm of healing; they get sick and then get healed. But God wants us to live in divine health; this is a higher place where we do not get sick. You can be healthy 24 hours, 7 days a week, all year long. The Spirit of might brings this truth to reality in your life.

If you are born again, you are a partaker of the divine (Greek “theios”) nature; that is the God nature. This means you have been brought into the realm of God. God doesn't get sick. God doesn't get weak. He is not weakened by any sickness. Since you have the divine nature now, you ought to live the divine life.

Thank God that when you were attacked by headache, malaria or cancer, you rebuked it and it went. It is time to move to the next level where you do not get sick at all. You are strengthened by the Lord. You do not get overwhelmed or depressed by circumstances, you are strengthened by the Spirit in the inner man.

CONFESSION
I am a partaker of the divine nature. I am strong and healthy. I am well from the crown of my head to the soles of my feet. My mind is stable in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. I am continually strengthened with might by the Holy Spirit in my inner man. Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY
Ephesians 3:14-16 KJV

2 Peter 1:3-4 KJV
According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: (4) Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

THE CORNET DAILY DEVOTIONAL

THE SPIRIT OF EXCELLENCE

Thursday 21st May, 2026
Pastor David Omongole

“And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;” (Isaiah 11:1-2 KJV)

The Spirit of wisdom, the Spirit of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and the Spirit of knowledge together make up the Spirit of excellence. Daniel had the Spirit of excellence. When the king called for men who were skillful in all wisdom, cunning in knowledge and understanding science, he was among them (Daniel 1:3-6).

After three years of nourishment, the king communed with all the chosen men “…and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king. And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm”. (Daniel 1:19-20 KJV) The Spirit of excellence makes you ten times better than your fellows.

In the reign of King Belshazzar, son of Nebuchadnezzar, fingers of a man’s hand appeared and wrote on the wall. All the king’s wise men could not read or interpret the writing. His mother advised him to call for Daniel, for he had an excellent spirit and knowledge and understanding. Daniel was called and he gave the king the interpretation of the writing (Daniel 5:5-29).

Daniel and three others were made presidents over the 120 princes who ruled throughout the kingdom. By the Spirit of wisdom, Daniel arranged the affairs in the kingdom and was preferred above all the presidents and princes (Daniel 6:1-3). By the Spirit of understanding, Daniel understood when he read the prophecy of Jeremiah that the days of the desolations of Jerusalem were over (Daniel 9:2-3).
Stir up the Spirit of excellence in you through prayer and you will excel in all things. Whatsoever you are involved in will be successful. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION
I have the Spirit of excellence in me. I am skillful in all wisdom and cunning in knowledge. I am ten times better than my fellows in all matters of wisdom and understanding. I arrange the governments in my charge by the wisdom of the Spirit. I have an understanding of times and seasons. I know what I ought to do in the time I ought to do it. The Spirit of knowledge gives me revelation in the knowledge of God. The Spirit of counsel guides me into reality. I am fruitful and successful in all I do. I am advancing and increasing steadily. Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY
Proverbs 24:3-6 KJV
Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: (4) And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches. (5) A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength. (6) For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.

Daniel 5:10-12 KJV
Now the queen, by reason of the words of the king and his lords, came into the banquet house: and the queen spake and said, O king, live for ever: let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be changed: (11) There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers; (12) Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.

THE CORNET DAILY DEVOTIONAL

THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD I

Sunday 10th May, 2026
Pastor David Omongole

“And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;” (Isaiah 11:1-2 KJV)

The Spirit of the Lord is the Spirit of ministry. One time Jesus was in the synagogue, and He read a portion from the book of Isaiah, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.” (Luke 4:18-19 KJV)

After reading this, Jesus closed the book and sat down. The people were surprised that He didn’t read the entire prophecy spoken by Isaiah. He didn’t read the part of proclaiming the day of the Lord’s vengeance (Isaiah 61:2). Jesus knew that the day of vengeance would come but it is not yet time for it. How did He know? By the Spirit of the Lord!

The Spirit of the Lord makes you articulate in ministry. When you operate with the Spirit of God, He will tell you exactly what to preach to the people. He will give you the right message for every season. You will know what to say and how to say it. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION
The Spirit of the Lord dwells in me. He guides me in my ministry work. The Spirit of the Lord tells me what to say and how to say it. He gives me a suitable message for a particular time. I divide the Word of God accurately by the help of the Spirit. Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY
John 12:49-50 NIV
For I did not speak of my own accord, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and how to say it. (50) I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say."

John 14:10 KJV
Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

THE CORNET DAILY DEVOTIONAL

THE HOLY SPIRIT CAME TO STAY

Friday 8th May, 2026
Pastor David Omongole

“And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.” (John 1:33-34 KJV)

This is a sign that God gave John the Baptist concerning Jesus, the Son of God. The Holy Spirit descended on Jesus and remained on Him.

In the Old Testament, the Spirit of God would come upon someone for a particular purpose and when that purpose was fulfilled, the Spirit would leave the person. Or if the person sinned, the Holy Spirit would depart from him. This means that when people received the Holy Spirit then, He did not remain with them permanently. He would come and go. It is not like that in the New Testament. The Holy Spirit comes and remains permanently.

Our Lord Jesus is the one who started our order. When the Holy Spirit came upon Him, He remained permanently. This is the same experience for everyone who believes on the Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit comes in them to stay. Jesus said, “…I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;” (John 14:16 KJV)

If you are born again, you should never be worried about the Spirit of God departing from you. The Holy Spirit is a gift and the Bible lets us know that “…God's gifts and His call are irrevocable. [He never withdraws them when once they are given…” (Romans 11:29 AMP)

One may ask, “What if I don't feel His presence?” That does not mean that He has left you. The Holy Spirit abides in you forever. Acknowledge this truth by faith. 1 Corinthians 6:17 says, “…the person who is united to the Lord becomes one spirit with Him.” (AMP) You are one with the Holy Spirit. In Him you live, move and have your being. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION
The Holy Spirit dwells in me permanently. He is God’s precious gift to me. Since the gifts of God are irrevocable, the Holy Spirit is in me to stay. I am one with the Holy Spirit. In Him I live, move and have my being. The Holy Spirit will never leave me nor forsake me. He is my ever present Helper. Hallelujah!

FURTHER STUDY
Ephesians 1:13 KJV
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

Acts 10:44-45 KJV
While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. (45) And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
