World mission is the privilege and responsibility of every local church

Is your church doing mission for its own glory or God’s?

Want a cunning test to help you answer? Check out how much energy and passion (evidenced by money, prayer, interest) is invested in situations in other parts of the world for which you will get no credit. If it is not proportional to what is invested at home, then serious questions should be asked. If our passion is God’s honour and the fame of the Lord Jesus then we won’t be satisfied until the earth is filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea (Hab. 2:14; Is. 11:9).

This will mean we get involved in planting churches all over the place and supporting other churches to plant churches, even when we don’t get a mention. It will mean sacrificially giving away our best people so that unreached areas of the world will be reached for Christ.

BE A WITNESS TODAY
By Pastor Okiror Samuel

READ | Mathew 28:19-20

God has cast a vision and a purpose for all of His children. It is known as the
Great Commission: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you” (Matthew 28:19-20).

This command has not changed. God still expects us, His children, to share the good news of the gospel, to teach people how to be followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, and to baptize those who are saved.

What does it mean, to “make disciples”? Some Christians think this refers to adding new church members and growing the size of the congregation. But God is not interested in numbers or external appearances; He’s concerned about genuine heart change.

So He commissions His followers to lead others, first to saving faith in Jesus Christ and then to the next step—baptism—as a public declaration of their trust in the Savior.

Be a witness for Christ Jesus today!

*No Matter How Badly You Mess Up, God Offers Mercy*

No matter what you’re going through, you can live with hope. That’s the consistent, overriding message of the Bible. God will always treat you with grace and mercy.
Peter writes to those who are already believers, “All honor to God, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ; for it is his boundless mercy that has given us the privilege of being born again” (1 Peter 1:3 TLB).

The more we understand grace, the more we’ll be amazed by it. It’s completely undeserved. It’s totally unmerited. It is not something that you could earn or work for. It’s just a free gift of God’s mercy.

You can’t make God love you any more than he loves you right now. You can’t make him love you any less. His love is based on his mercy for you.

God’s Word tells us, “When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit” (Titus 3:4-5 NLT).

This is extremely important to understand. When you make mistakes as a believer, God doesn’t get mad at you. God doesn’t want to get even with you. God doesn’t start planning to mess up your life. God always acts in mercy toward you. Why? Because you’re covered in the blood of Jesus Christ when you’ve accepted him as Savior. That’s why God responds in mercy every time you mess up.

And that can give you hope.

*MARRIAGE IS HARD WORK!!!*

Dr. D.K. Olukoya

Many years ago I interpreted the saying “Marriage is not for small boys” to mean small boys in terms of age, until I visited a female mentor that has been in marriage for 47 years. I asked her, “So what is the secret of your over 47 successful years in marriage?”

Beaming with smiles, she retorted, “My son, the expectations you bring into marriage will spell either its doom or success. I married my husband without expectations of enjoying his money or him buying cars for me but, with time, my patience, hard work and God-fearing attitude yielded results of getting cars, houses, taking care of our children and all that.

“You see, if a married lady keeps on nagging in the house, she pushes the spirit of her husband away from the home. If you make the man unhappy, you make the house uncomfortable.
“So, I married without high expectations from my husband but simply to make him happy always.

“Yes, for the past 47 years, I would be the first to get up from bed and the last to go back to bed. I bathe the kids, do devotions with them, prepare breakfast for my husband and boil hot water for him to bathe. I iron the clothes he would wear to work, kiss him and wish him the best in his daily endeavors.”

Then I asked the old lady, “So then, what does the man do in return?” She laughed all heart and hearty and replied, “You see, this is the mistake you young ones make in marriage. YOU DO SOMETHING FOR YOUR HUSBAND OR WIFE AND EXPECT SOME REWARD FROM HIM OR HER! THIS IS WRONG!!

“When it becomes your attitude to only please your husband or wife always, the other person responds naturally. Indeed, if nothing touches the palm tree, it doesn’t rattle.”

She continued, “My son, never carry ‘How Rich or Poor your Family is’ into marriage. After all, you knew very well the status of your family and decided to marry that man or woman!

“Love only compels/leads would-be couples into marriage but it doesn’t sustain marriage. Rather, understan

JUST DO NOT GET BITTER
www.alimforchrist.org

When you hit a setback, it’s okay to tell God you’re mad, you’re sad, or you’re depressed. It’s okay to express all your emotions to God.

Bitterness is saying you don’t trust God when troubles hit. It’s like a poison that will tear your life apart if you let it.

Job endured all kinds of problems. He lost his family, his fortune, and his health. But instead of becoming bitter, he kept his focus on the big picture.

Job says, “I was born with nothing, and I will die with nothing. The Lord gave, and now he has taken away. May his name be praised!” (Job 1:21 GNT).Job understood that God was still in control even though everything else seemed to be falling apart.

I was there when each of my three children was born. They didn’t come with anything. They didn’t have toys, a portfolio, a wardrobe, or a briefcase. I’ve also preached enough funerals to know that no one drives a trailer of possessions to the graveside.

You come with nothing. You leave with nothing.

When setbacks come your way—and they most certainly will come—you must focus on the fact that God has your big picture in mind. Many things will change in your life. Your faith will be tested and tried.

Like Job, you haven’t been promised a perfect life. You likely won’t get an explanation when setbacks come. But you can choose to trust God anyway. No matter what setbacks you face, trust that:

God will never stop loving you.
God has a plan for your life.
God cares about every detail of your life.
God is in control of things even when you don’t understand it.
God will protect you.
Regardless of the setback, that’s the big picture about your life. You can base your life on these five truths when everything else falls apart.

You won’t get bitter if you keep your eyes on a big picture like that.
