CROSSING OVER TO A NEW YEAR: A MOMENT OF GRATITUDE, HOPE, AND GROWTH
1. Thank God for Seeing You Through This Year
The fact that you are alive and standing at the edge of a new year is evidence of God’s faithfulness.
You may have faced trials, losses, delays, and battles—but God preserved you.
Gratitude shifts your focus from what went wrong to what God sustained.
Thanking God closes the old season properly and opens the new one rightly.
Scriptures:
Psalm 124:1–3 – “If the Lord had not been on our side…”
Lamentations 3:22–23 – “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18 – “In everything give thanks.”
Teaching Note:
Never enter a new year with complaints—enter it with thanksgiving.
2. Be Hopeful as You Face the New Year
Hope is not wishful thinking; it is confident expectation in God.
The new year carries unknowns, but God is already there.
Hope gives strength to move forward even when details are unclear.
Where hope is alive, discouragement cannot dominate.
Scriptures:
Jeremiah 29:11 – “Plans to give you a hope and a future.”
Romans 15:13 – “May the God of hope fill you…”
Proverbs 23:18 – “Your hope will not be cut off.”
Teaching Note:
You don’t need to know everything about the new year—just trust the One who holds it.
3. Be Ready for the Challenges Ahead
A new year does not mean absence of challenges; it means new opportunities to overcome.
Growth always attracts resistance.
Preparation is better than surprise.
God does not promise a problem-free journey, but He promises victory.
Scriptures:
John 16:33 – “In this world you will have trouble… but take heart.”
Ephesians 6:13 – “Put on the whole armor of God.”
Isaiah 43:2 – “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.”
Teaching Note:
Challenges are not signs of failure—they are proof that you are advancing.
