MINISTERS FELLOWSHIP DEVOTION | THE ANOINTING THAT BUILDS
Understand this clearly: the anointing is God’s empowerment for assignment.
It is not a feeling. It is not a title. It is divine capacity released to make you effective in ministry.
In the Old Testament, God used physical oil as a prophetic instrument. When a prophet poured oil, heaven was marking a person for responsibility, authority, and ex*****on.
“Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him… and the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David.” — 1 Samuel 16:13
“Samuel took a flask of oil and poured it on Saul’s head…” — 1 Samuel 10:1
The oil itself did not produce results. The Spirit of the Lord did.
Oil was the symbol; the Spirit was the power.
Now understand the shift.
Jesus was not anointed with oil. He was anointed by the Holy Spirit.
The anointing came, not through ritual, but through divine presence.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me…” — Luke 4:17–18
Jesus did not operate by emotions or methods. He operated by the Word of God.
Where the Word was spoken, power followed.
Where obedience was practiced, results manifested.
This teaches us a foundational truth for ministry today:
The anointing empowers you
The Word directs you
Obedience sustains you
That is how ministry produces fruit.
The anointing is still active. It heals, restores, and establishes.
“They anointed many sick people with oil and healed them.” — Mark 6:13
“Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church…” — James 5:14
“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper…” — John 14:16
In this year of building, do not attempt to build by strength, talent, or strategy alone.
Build by the anointing of the Holy Spirit and the discipline of the Word.
The anointing gives you capacity.
The Word gives you direction.
Together, they produce lasting impact.
Key truth:
What God anoints, He expects to function.
What He empowers, He expects to build.
