1. Let the song Minister to you first.
Allot of singers come up to sing on stage without allowing the song to bless them first, not knowing that if the song does not mean something to them, it can hardly bless the audience. So let the song bless you first, soak in the song and know what it means, cause music penetrates through the spirit, body and soul.
2. Know your Audience.
You need to know your audience and what songs they can easily connect with, if not you will hardly engage them, I know there is allot of controversies here cause allot of singers claim that it's not about the audience but God, neglecting the audience who needs to be blessed. Except for a specific instructions from the Holy Spirit to sing a song, you need to sing songs that your people can easily flow with so that they can be blessed. Imagine you where invited to a town where they mostly hear Yoruba not English, you are expected to learn Yoruba songs to help engage them to sing along and worship God, not going there to sing in English throughout, how do you expect them to get blessed?
3. Involve them In Your singing.
You need to engage your audience by telling them to make a joyful noise, clap there hands, turn to there neighbors to say something or dance, sing a shot verse or chorus alone without the backups or instrumentalist, go into the congregation and dance with them etc.
4. You need stage presence.
Your character, attitude and the way you carry yourself on stage matters allot, you can't lead people to worship God when you yourself is not worshiping, you can't tell them to dance when you yourself is not dancing. You need to lead by example so that they can follow you.
5. Be confident in your singing.
Fear will never allow you engage your audience, you need to believe in yourself, believe in your voice, and remove every thoughts of mistake from your mind, if not you will make mistake. Your confidence on stage will go a long way i
