THE MYSTERY OF MANTLES I

One fundamental secret of the mantle is that your mantle will always be bigger than you.

If God has a purpose for your life, that purpose is greater than what you can ever achieve in your individual capacity.

People will always assess your background, credentials and affiliations and conclude that they do not measure up to what God is doing through you.

In acknowledging this truth, Paul said in 1 Corinthians 1:26, “For ye see in your calling, brethren, how not many wise men according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called.”

The Message translation lends deeper clarity to this issue. It says, “Take a good look, friends, at who you were when you got called into this life. I don't see many of "the brightest and the best" among you, not many influential, not many from high-society families.”

What God has placed upon your life must be bigger than you because that is the guarantee that it will outlive you and leave a legacy for the generations that follow.

Matthew 7:24-25(KJV): Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

A HOUSE BUILT ON A ROCK

Our theme scripture gives us an analogy of what it means to be a stable Christian.

As the house of God, you must be immovable and unyielding in the face of life's worst crises.

Examine your life for a minute. Can you truly say that nothing moves you? Are you sure that you stand steadfast when the storms of life buffet you?

When weighed against this scripture, many Christians are found wanting. In reality, they live up to the scripture in Proverbs 24:10 (MSG) which says, "If you fall to pieces in a crisis, there wasn't much to you in the first place."

You must learn to fortify your spirit. It must be the testimony of both heaven and hell that nothing moves you.

When a doctor tells you that you have three months to live, you must have the boldness to say, "You are not God, this disease has not heard the final word on this!"

When the naysayers number the final days of your ministry or business, add the number of chairs or buy more equipment.

Nothing should ever shake your convictions in God and His vote over your destiny. You know whom you believe, to whom you belong and who you are!

GOLDEN NUGGET: You must learn to fortify your spirit. It must be the testimony of both heaven and hell that nothing moves you.

PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for my life. If God is for me, who can dare to stand against me? Like Zerubbabel asked, so do I, “Who are you oh great mountain before me?" I am steady, calm and collected, watching God at work in my situations, in Jesus' name, Amen.

Matthew 21:12-13(KJV); And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

GOD IS OUR STANDARD

Have you ever asked yourself how the temple of God became a marketplace?

This was a place of worship and deeply revered but at some point in time, it became a hub of trade.

Until Jesus overturned the tables of money changers and drove out those selling doves and other merchandise, no one had complained about this state of affairs.

Why? Because it was condoned by the religious leaders of the time.

What is the lesson herein?

There are things some Christians do simply because they see some ministers of the gospel doing them even when those things are wrong.

Some people are willing to go against their innermost convictions because of the actions of men and women of God.

The minister of the gospel is not the standard, God is. You follow him only because He follows God. If He gets off the path of following God, you have the right to flee.

We serve men of God because they serve God. We submit to men of God because they are submitted first to God. God is the standard.

GOLDEN NUGGET: The minister of the gospel is not the standard, God is. You follow him only because He follows God.

PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for this truth. Thank You for the authority in my life. I imitate them even as they imitate Christ. Ultimately, my eyes are set on You as my ultimate guide and vision, in Jesus' name, Amen.

John 14:16-17(KJV); And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

THE PERSON OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

You will never build a proper relationship with the Holy Spirit if you regard Him merely as a force through whom God executes His purposes.

The Holy Spirit is a person. As a person, He has a will, emotions and an intellect.

When you relate with Him, do you know His will regarding the circumstances of your life? If not, how will you know when He is quenched? (1 Thessalonians 5:19).

Are you attuned to His emotions? If you are not, how will you know when He is grieved? (Ephesians 4:30).

He has an opinion concerning anything you wish to do in this life. Have you asked Him?

When you understand Him as a person, your spirit will open up to hear Him even in the least likely circumstances. He will reprimand you when you unconsciously offend a brother, He will teach you what to say and when to say it, and He will guide you in the paths of life.

GOLDEN NUGGET: The Holy Spirit is a person. As a person, He has a will, emotions and an intellect.

1 Corinthians 13:8(KJV); Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

LOVE NEVER FAILS

The Greek language distinguishes four different kinds of love. These are Philia (the love between friends), Eros (Passion), Storge (Brotherly love) and Agape (the love of God).

Marriage is not built on the foundation of Philia, Eros or Storge. It is built on Agape.

The absence of any of the other kinds of love should never be the reason for the breakup of a marriage.

You cannot claim that your marriage is over because you no longer converse and talk like friends as you used to in the past (Philia).

You cannot seek a divorce simply because the romantic feelings (Eros) you had at the beginning of your marriage appear to have faded.

The fundamental question is, does Agape rule your marriage?

If the answer is yes, then your marriage cannot fail because Agape never fails.

Child of God, what is the meaning of your name?

I am usually amazed when I ask Christians what their names mean and they tell me they have no idea.

How can you not know what your name means?

You may take it lightly but names are very powerful. It is important to know the meaning because every time it is called, two entities answer, you and some other spirit.

Some people are named after pagan gods and goddesses and these spirits are stirred with every mention of your name.

As a parent, take time and pray about the name you give your child. Do not name him or her after some movie actor or actress with no idea what the name means.

If you are serious about your salvation, find out the meaning of your name and if it frustrates your spiritual identity, seek God's mind and change it.

Praise Him.

GOLDEN NUGGET: It is important to know the meaning of your name because every time it is called, two entities answer, you and some other spirit.

PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for this truth. I receive it as divine wisdom and know what to do. By this understanding, I align my spiritual identity to Your will, in Jesus' name, Amen.
