The sermon by Rev. Samuel Muwonge at St John's Church Kirinya today:
"My dear brothers and sisters, today we have gathered to reflect on the powerful message from the Book of Judges, chapter 16, verses 16 to 21, and Micah, chapter 7, verse 8, which reminds us that 'I shall rise again.'
We look at the story of Samson, who had fallen because he had given the devil a chance, as we read in Ephesians, chapters 4 to 7. But despite his downfall, God's grace was restored to Samson when he repented. The mercy of God was also restored to him, and it did not depend on the wishes of his enemies.
When Samson repented, his hair started to grow again, as we read in Psalm 23, verse 4, symbolizing the restoration of God's power in his life. This shows us that when God's mercy steps in, things are turned into songs of praise, even in the midst of our deepest mess.
God uses the humble because of His power. As we read in Judges 16, verse 21, Satan always underestimates the power of God's mercy, but God turns the victim into a victor, giving us double blessings in our times of trouble, as we see in Psalm 24.
The earth and its fullness belong to the Lord, and the end script is known by the Alpha and Omega, Jesus Christ. Your fall may be part of the story, but your life will continue in Christ. Accept Jesus Christ and finish well.
My dear friends, let us pray that the Lord Jesus will help us to end our lives well. Today, we must ask ourselves: If Jesus were to return today, will my story end well? Let us be careful about the temptations of 'gold, glory, girls or guys' that have been responsible for the destruction of many souls. But we can rise again from our falls, for with God, all things are possible.
Let us pray and ask the Lord to help us finish our lives well, for we know that we can rise again from any fall, by the power of His grace and mercy. Amen."
