Fire is the eternal, fiery habitation of God, a realm of unapproachable purity, holiness, light and power. The properties of fire best describes this aspect of God's nature, He burns with fervent heat, releasing unconquerable power.
"For our God is a consuming fire." Hebrews 12:29
This scripture gives us an insight into God's nature and operation. It means God is fire and fire is godly. The smartest path to godliness and purity is staying on fire, because it means you are abiding in God. In Greek context, the phrase "God is a consuming fire" emphasizes this aspect of God's nature as being both purifying and completely consuming, leaving nothing unrefined or unjudged. This reflects the holiness and righteousness of God that tolerates no impurity.
"This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." 1 John 1:5
This verse directly states that God is light, emphasizing His purity, holiness, and absence of darkness.
