📖 Scripture Reading: Luke 1:1–14

Introduction

God is not a user.
He does not use people and dump them. When you serve God, He rewards and remembers you.

Our unbelief stops us from enjoying the fulfilled promises that God made. Even if you don't believe, the promises will be fullfilled but you will not be there to enjoy. Serving God positions you to fully experience His purpose, blessings, wisdom, and strength.

What is Serving God?

Serving God means aligning yourself with His purpose and glorifying Him daily.
It means relying on His strength rather than your own.

Things to put into proper perspective while Serving.

1. Serving God is not just a religious obligation — it is a lifestyle and relationship with Him. It's about a heartfelt devotion.

2. Doing Good to Others

Zachariah did not look at himself when his lot came, he said I will.

It is intimately connected to:

Helping people

Sharing good news with people
At times, serving God requires God’s strength.

3. Serving God is Total Commitment. It's a total life application.

Serving God at:

Work

Home

School

Everywhere

It is not only about attending church.

4. Stewardship

Everything God gives you is for His glory:

Master Scripture: Isaiah 50:10

Theme: Trusting God in Times of Darkness

All of us go through dark seasons, but there comes a time when darkness ends and light comes just as every season comes to an end.

Life is about seasons. There is a season when people clap for you, and when people no longer celebrate you.

Even Jesus had a time to climb up and a season to come down.

Problems are like seasons because every season has a beginning and an end.

What Helps You to Go Through?

1. The Fear of the Lord

Have the fear of the Lord — not fear of punishment. This is the fear of loving God.

No matter what, you will love the Lord fully and will not compromise.

Fearing God is not a feeling; it is a choice that says, “I will trust the Lord.”

When entering the realm of darkness, let go of yourself and surrender to God.

While in darkness, you cannot control whatever happens.

Allow God to deal with whatever happens to you in darkness.

In some seasons, learn to let go. Trust God that He will put light on and deal with the darkness.

Trust means surrender of struggle, worry, etc., and waiting upon the Lord.

2. Psalm 56:3–4

“Put your trust in the Lord when you are afraid.”

When one door closes, do not focus on that door; turn to God for another door.

Choose to worship God over worry.

Worship is a weapon against the devil. Worship overcomes worry and fear over your life.

3. Psalm 77:11

“What helps you is remembering what God has done.”

Remember where God lifted you from.

Yes, things are hard today, but don’t forget what you went through before.

THEME: The Power of the Cross
TEXT: Matthew 27:45–66

What is the Cross?
A powerful symbol which reminds us about:
Forgiveness of sin
Justification
Total redemption
Victory over the devil
Breaking of curses
Healing
Eternal life

What the Cross Teaches Us
The cross teaches us who we are
The cross teaches us what we need
The cross teaches us that we do not have to clean ourselves up to come to God — we only need to come in humble confession
The cross teaches us who God is

Important Clarification
As Christians, we are not supposed to bow down to worship the cross
We bow down to worship Jesus, who overcame the cross

Scripture Reference
“At the name of Jesus every knee should bow…”
— Philippians 2:10–11

Why the Message of the Cross is Important Today
What the world needs most is:
Not a better president
Not world peace
Not just good morals
But deliverance from sin, which only the cross can provide

What Happens at the Cross
All things are made right at the cross
Examples:
Relationships are restored through the cross
Sins are washed away, and unity in the Church comes through the cross

Responsibility of Believers
The only hope for our children and grandchildren in this world is through the cross
We are responsible for sharing the message of the cross to the world

Benefits of the Power of the Cross
1. At the cross Jesus was taking your place
Mark 15:6–15
2. At the cross Jesus was taking your curse
Galatians 3:13
4. At the cross Jesus was clothing you
Isaiah 61:10 / Matthew 27:27–30
Through His death on the cross, Jesus covered the shame of our nakedness by giving us His robe of righteousness.
5. At the cross Jesus was tearing heaven open for you and me
Hebrews 10:19–22
6. At the cross He has joined believing Jews and Gentiles into one in the Lord’s sight
Ephesians 2:13–16
Jews and Gentiles had a long history towards one another, but we thank God for the cross because it opened the way for Jew and Gentile to be united in one body.
7. At the cross has the power to unify every disparate group on earth: Muslims, Hindus, Satanists, Jews, Gentile, poor, nice, the honored, the despised.
All find unity in Christ through the overcoming power of his cross in our life and breaking down all social divide.
Five miraculous things that happened when Jesus died on the cross.
But I’m going to look only 2.
Darkness from noon to 3pm (Matt 27:25)
This was a very real picture of both physical and spiritual.
It was time of redemption and fulfillment of prophecy.
The temple veil tearing
It was end of the old covenant, tearing of the temple veil.”
