*WEEK 4 – CHRIST, THE GLORY REVEALED*

*Scripture:* John 1:14
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory.”

*DEVOTIONAL TEACHING*
God’s glory is not distant or abstract—it has a face and a name: Jesus Christ. In Christ, glory is revealed not through dominance or outward display, but through humility, sacrifice, truth, and love.

Jesus demonstrated that glory dwells where love moves toward others. He entered broken humanity, lived among imperfect people, and laid down His life. This same pattern defines a Christ-centered marriage — a marriage that expresses God, communicates God to humanity, and allows God to reveal Himself in visible form.

The glory revealed through Christ’s human nature showed that He was not merely a prophet or teacher. He was fully God and fully human. He experienced human life, including hunger, pain, joy, temptation, and suffering, yet remained without sin (Hebrews 4:15).

Marriage reveals God’s glory best when it reflects Christ’s nature through:
1. Love that serves
2. Authority that sacrifices
3. Truth spoken in grace
4. Selflessness instead of selfishness
5. Love that endures during difficulty
6. Holiness and righteousness
7. Humility and obedience
8. Truthfulness and justice
9. Mercy and forgiveness
Where Christ is central, marriage becomes a living expression of the gospel.

*CHRIST-CENTERED LEADERSHIP*
Leadership in marriage mirrors Christ’s example—servant-hearted, truthful, and self-giving. Authority without love distorts glory, but leadership expressed through humility releases it.

*Ephesians 5:25*
“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her.”
Leadership in marriage that reveals God’s glory is based on:
1. Love, not power
2. Sacrifice, not selfishness
3. Service, not control
4. Prioritizing the spouse’s well-being
5. Making decisions that benefit the family rather than personal desires
6. Providing emotional, spiritual, and physical protection
7. Willingness to endure inconvenience for the spouse’s good
8. Encouraging prayer and spiritual growth
9. Modeling godly character
10. Guiding the family toward biblical values
11. Creating a home environment that honors God
12. Listening to a spouse’s opinions
13. Admitting mistakes
14. Asking for forgiveness
15. Valuing partnership rather than superiority
16. Remaining committed during challenges
17. Protecting the covenant of marriage
18. Being reliable and trustworthy
19. Standing firm in love during difficult seasons
20. Encouraging emotional and spiritual growth
21. Speaking uplifting words
22. Supporting healing and restoration
23. Creating an atmosphere of peace and security
24. Mutual honor and respect between spouses
25. Mutual service
26. Pursuing unity and partnership together

*Remember:*
1. Christ leads by giving Himself for the good of others.
2. Leadership is measured by how much one gives, not by how much one controls.
3. Jesus washed His disciples’ feet (John 13), showing that true leaders serve.
4. Leadership involves guiding the family spiritually, not just materially.
5. Humility builds trust and emotional safety in marriage.
6. Faithfulness reflects Christ’s covenant love.
7. Christ nurtures and cares for the Church (Ephesians 5:29).
8. Marriage leadership is cooperative, not competitive.

Leadership becomes unhealthy when it reflects human weakness, such as:
1. Control or domination
2. Abuse or intimidation
3. Selfish decision-making
4. Pride and refusal to listen
5. Emotional neglect

*Reflection:*
Are our decisions shaped by Christ’s character?

*Action:*
Ask together: “How would Jesus lead our marriage this week?” Then act accordingly.

*SACRIFICIAL LOVE*
Christ loved unto death. Covenant love lays down pride, offense, entitlement, and self-protection. True intimacy grows where spouses choose to die to self for the good of one another, and this reveals God’s glory.
Dying to self means:
1. Choosing understanding instead of winning
2. Listening before defending
3. Valuing peace over ego
4. Releasing bitterness
5. Extending grace even when hurt
6. Pursuing healing instead of revenge
7. Admitting mistakes quickly
8. Asking forgiveness sincerely
9. Being willing to change harmful behavior
10. Respecting a spouse’s opinions
11. Making decisions together
12. Honoring each other’s gifts and strengths
13. Remaining faithful when emotions fluctuate
14. Keeping covenant promises
15. Working through challenges instead of withdrawing
16. Praying together even when busy
17. Encouraging godly character in one another
18. Supporting each other’s spiritual calling
19. Allowing space for growth
20. Showing understanding during weakness
21. Avoiding harsh criticism

*Remember to:*
1. Choose love over being right.
2. Choose forgiveness over holding offenses.
3. Choose service over convenience.
4. Choose humility over pride.
5. Choose partnership over control.
6. Choose commitment over feelings.
7. Choose spiritual growth over comfort.
8. Choose patience over frustration.
Marriage thrives when both voices are valued.

*Reflection:*
Where do I need to love more like Christ?

*Action:*
Do one unseen, sacrificial act of love for your spouse this week.

*FOLLOWING JESUS TOGETHER*
Children learn Christ not primarily through instruction but through observation. When they see forgiveness, patience, and humility at home, they encounter Jesus and God’s glory is revealed.

*Deuteronomy 6:6–7*
“These commandments… are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road…”
Faith is taught through:
1. Daily living
2. Everyday conversations
3. Lifestyle example

Children often associate God’s character with how parents behave. When children observe:
1. Love → They understand God is loving
2. Forgiveness → They understand God is merciful
3. Patience → They see God as gentle
4. Integrity → They trust God’s truth
Children also observe:
1. How parents pray
2. Whether parents depend on God during challenges
3. How parents treat Scripture
4. Whether faith influences decisions
5. Respect between parents
6. Healthy conflict resolution
7. Sacrificial love
8. Kind communication

*John 13:15*
“I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.”
Jesus demonstrated:
1. Servanthood
2. Compassion
3. Prayerfulness
4. Forgiveness
Observation is powerful because children:
1. Trust what they see repeatedly
2. Learn through imitation
3. Absorb emotional and spiritual attitudes naturally
4. Often remember actions more than words
Consistent example creates lasting spiritual influence.

*Practical Ways Parents Model Christ to Children*
Parents teach Christ through:
1. Modeling love and kindness through daily compassion
2. Modeling forgiveness through open apology and reconciliation
3. Modeling prayer and worship through visible devotion
4. Modeling integrity by living truthfully
5. Modeling humility by admitting mistakes and showing willingness to grow

*Action:*
Read a short Gospel story together and discuss how Jesus showed love.

*Weekly Prayer*
Jesus, be revealed in our marriage. Teach us to love as You love, serve as You serve, and give as You give. May Your glory dwell in our home in Jesus mighty name. *Amen* .
