Over the past months at Abide, we have been reflecting on the Gospel, the essential truths of the Christian faith, and who God is. As we continue growing together in discipleship, we now want to take the next step: learning how to rightly handle God’s Word for ourselves.

For the next couple of months, we will be walking through practical and biblical principles that will help us grow in our understanding of Scripture. In our first session, we will explore the important difference between exegesis and eisegesis—two approaches to reading the Bible. One seeks to draw out the meaning that the biblical authors intended, while the other risks reading our own ideas and assumptions into the text. Hence, learning this distinction is essential for anyone who desires to faithfully understand and apply God’s Word.

Our desire for this series is not simply to gain knowledge, but to cultivate hearts that are rooted in Christ and grounded in Scripture. Therefore, if you are a lady who desires to deepen your love and understanding of Scripture, we would love for you to join us.

26 years ago, the tragic events of the Kanungu cult massacre shocked the world. Over 500 followers died in a fire, and nearly a thousand lives were lost in total—people who believed they were obeying God.

More recently, the Shakahola cult killings reminded us that the danger of spiritual deception is still very real in our region.

This National Declaration is a call to the Church in Uganda and across East Africa:
• To repent of negligence in discipleship
• To ground believers in sound doctrine
• To test every spiritual claim by Scripture

May we become a people who are discerning, courageous, and firmly centered on Christ.
