M***i Completes Working Visit to West Nile Muslim Region

His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the M***i of Uganda, on Friday, April 24, 2026, concluded a three-day working visit to the West Nile Muslim Region.

The M***i, in the company of Hon. Hadji Abbas Muluubya Ssekyanzi, the UMSC Secretary General; Hon. Counsel Haj Muhammad Ali Aluma, Deputy Secretary General in charge of Finance and Administration; Hon. Katureebe Yaziidi, UMSC Secretary in charge of Administration and Human Resource; and Ms. Fiona Migadde Kitaka, Executive Chair of Matugga Industries & Logistics Hub, successfully carried out planned activities, mainly the commissioning of Halaal Farmers Centres.
The last centres were commissioned in Moyo and Adjumani Muslim Districts, bringing the total to five fully stocked centres launched during the visit. These centres provide agricultural and livestock inputs, including fertilizers, seeds, veterinary drugs, and equipment, all produced by Matugga Industries. Earlier, the M***i had commissioned similar centres in Arua, Koboko, and Yumbe before returning to Kampala by chartered plane on Friday mid-morning.

While addressing the people of Moyo and Adjumani, the M***i reiterated the message he had delivered across the region during the commissioning of similar Halaal Farmers Centres.
He explained that the initiative is part of the ten-year UMSC Strategic Development Plan. “It is this strategic direction that guided UMSC to partner with Matugga Industries & Logistics Hub, manufacturers of agricultural and livestock inputs, to promote quality agricultural production based on modern techniques within our communities,” he said.

He added that the initiative also aims to curb the widespread problem of counterfeit agricultural inputs on the market, noting that many farmers have suffered losses due to fake products that have reduced soil productivity and caused damage to crops, poultry, and livestock.

The M***i further revealed that the Council conducted thorough due diligence on Matugga Industries & Logistics Hub (MiL), confirming that the company has over 60 years of experience and produces genuine, high-quality, and affordable products suitable for rural farming communities.

He urged citizens to make use of the centres and called upon government officials—particularly Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) and LC V Chairpersons—to support the initiative. He emphasized that the centres are intended to complement government efforts in poverty eradication and contribute to socio-economic transformation.

The M***i also commended Muslims in West Nile for remaining united under UMSC leadership, in line with the teachings of the Holy Qur’an. He thanked them for rejecting attempts by what he described as a clique of misguided Kampala-based individuals who sought to create division within the region.

Prior to the M***i’s remarks, Hon. Hadji Muluubya, Hon. Counsel Aluma, Ms. Fiona Migadde Kitaka, and local government leaders addressed the gatherings. They praised the initiative and encouraged residents to utilize the centres to improve household incomes.

Regional Muslim leaders, including Sheikh Muhmood Raihan Mahdie, the West Nile Regional Assistant to the M***i; Sheikh Khalil Hussein, the Kadhi of Moyo; and Sheikh Ramadhan Daud Baiga, the Kadhi of Adjumani, also shared updates on the state of affairs in their respective jurisdictions.

The M***i concluded his tour with courtesy visits to the families of prominent deceased Muslim leaders, including the late Sheikh Abubakar Kokoa, former Kadhi of Moyo; the late Sheikh Mzee Muhammad Sakari Ayume, former Imam of Kauthar Mosque in Koboko; and the late Haji Musa Gule of Yumbe. He offered special prayers for their departed souls. In same way, visited Mr. Jaffar Abubakar at his topland Institute farm at Amuna village in Yumbe.

He also made a stopover at Riyadh Mosque in Obongi Trading Centre, where he led Maghrib and Isha prayers and held an interaction with the Muslim faithful.

The visit ended in Arua City, where the M***i attended a dinner hosted by Mr. Muhmood Andama, Director of Investments at Uganda Development Bank, at his residence.
