Luke 9:57-62
In this passage, Jesus encounters three individuals who express interest in following Him, but each faces challenges or hesitations.

What do we learn about these three individuals

*1st. Counting the Cost* Vs. 57-58 - Jesus emphasizes the importance of being aware of the challenges and sacrifices that come with following Him.

As followers of Christ, we should be prepared to face difficulties and prioritize our relationship with Him above all else.

Therefore, following Jesus requires commitment and sacrifice.

*2nd. Prioritizing the Kingdom*
Vs.59-60 - Jesus calls the second individual to follow Him, but the person requests to first bury their father.

Jesus' response emphasizes the urgency and priority of the kingdom of God. Always, we need to put God's call above our own desires or responsibilities.

Therefore, following Jesus we need to prioritize the kingdom of God above all else.

*3rd. Not Looking Back*

Vs. 61-62 - The third individual wants to say goodbye to their family before following Jesus.

Jesus' response highlights the importance of single-minded devotion and not looking back. As followers of Christ, we should be willing to leave behind distractions and focus on our relationship with Him.

Therefore, following Jesus need to maintain a single-minded devotion to Christ, without looking back or being distracted.

Deuteronomy 31:6

This verse serves as a profound encouragement to the Israelites as they prepare to enter the Promised Land under Joshua's leadership. The primary message conveyed is one of strength and courage, urging believers not to succumb to fear in the face of challenges. The assurance that "the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee" emphasizes the presence of God alongside His people, highlighting that they are not alone in their journey. This promise of divine companionship serves to instill confidence, reminding the Israelites of God’s unfailing support and faithfulness.

Furthermore, the exhortation "for the LORD thy God... will not fail thee, nor forsake thee" reassures believers of God's constant assistance. It calls to mind the significance of trust in God's promises, particularly during times of uncertainty and adversity. The encouragement to be strong and courageous is not merely about personal fortitude but also reflects a deep reliance on God’s power and presence, enabling individuals to confront any fears or obstacles with firm assurance. Hence, this verse holds timeless relevance, calling believers today to remain steadfast, trusting in God’s never-failing promise

Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. -1 Timothy 6:18
Do you ever struggle with generosity? You want to bless others through your generosity with your time, gifts, or money but you hold back at times. Each time you refrain from being more generous, it's easy to come up with an excuse. Admittedly, it's usually a selfish excuse and you walk away angry at yourself. Keep this in mind...God will provide. He has provided food on your table and clothes on your back. Store up treasures for yourself in heaven with your generosity, not here on earth through selfishness...

Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. -Hebrews 10:24
Do you know of someone who is down? Give your best effort to encourage them. A hot meal goes a long way to help someone who is depressed. Put yourself in their position and use gentle words to build them up. Stretch a hand of kindness and reach out to someone today. Take a moment to thoughtfully encourage your friend. Reviving their spirit enables them to love selves again and others.

If you stop listening to instruction, my child, you will turn your back on knowledge. -Proverbs 19:27
Is there someone in your life you have stopped listening to? If they are repeating the same thing over again, perhaps try listening to them. Usually, there is some wisdom that you have overlooked and need to pay attention to it. No one is ever too old to hear advice from others. Instruction is given out of love. Try receiving it with love.

Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. -Philippians 2:3
Evaluate your motives. Where do you need to pivot from serving yourself to serving others? What lies have you entertained that have inflated your own status? God cares about our hearts, so take time to align your motives with God’s standard of humility...

We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters. -1 John 3:16
What is real love? So many of us spend so much of our lives searching for “real love.” We each long to find a steadfast love that puts others first. Jesus promises us this kind of love and gives us the power to love each other in this way. Look to Jesus to satisfy your desire for a genuine and never-ending love.....

He gives food to every living thing. His faithful love endures forever. -Psalm 136:25
Have you given thanks to the Lord for your food? It's easy to rush quickly through a well-rehearsed prayer to enjoy the feast before you and your loved ones. Yet, the food we eat was given to us by a loving heavenly Father. Have you ever given thanks to God for yummy tomatoes in your salad or fresh guacamole with crispy chips? As odd as it may sound, these are provided to you from the Lord as a symbol of His love and it's an opportunity to express our gratitude. As you eat your next meal, what specifically are you grateful for?......good morning

The one thing I ask of the LORD — the thing I seek most— is to live in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, delighting in the LORD ’s perfections and meditating in his Temple. -Psalm 27:4
Is God our primary pursuit? Is his Word our lamp and guide? Do we seek his will and not our own? Those can be tough questions to answer because many of us really are just living for our own pleasure rather than following the way of the Lord. It can be tough to trust that his way is the best way but his beauty out matches anything else we can attain in this life. Seek him first!

No, O people, the LORD has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, -Micah 6:8
Would you characterize yourself as a “good person”? God defines good as justice, mercy and humility. Are these the things guiding your life choices? Make a list. Write down how you are or maybe how you could improve in acting with justice, mercy and humility....good morning
