On Saturday, hundreds of thousands of the faithful took part in a solemn Marian Procession from Nsambya Parish to Lubaga Cathedral, prayerfully meditating upon the Holy Rosary and offering a public witness of love and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Led by Holy Cross Family Ministries Uganda, this sacred gathering marked the beginning of the Month of Mary, inviting the faithful to renew their trust in the maternal intercession of Our Lady.

ENDING THE YEAR OF MISSION

We drove over muddy red roads into Bungu village and were welcomed with golden attire, sacred branches, joyful ululations, and soul-stirring drums. We jumped out and joined the procession!

Humble hospitality followed tea in plastic mugs, yams, and laughter under a grass-thatched roof.

The Holy Cross mission, born 186 years ago in Le Mans, is alive and strong in East Africa. The people of Koch Goma are the true “Divine Drum” their generosity is a modern multiplication of the loaves.

We closed with a joyful Eucharist, just like the early Church.
Lives touched. Hope restored.

Hail the Cross, our only Hope. 🙏

27 April 2026 | Day One – Ending the Year of Mission

A One and half hour journey led us deep into Ogello, Nwoya District through muddy red roads and into a community rich in faith and resilience.

We were welcomed with joyful singing and ululations at St. Nicholas Bungu. Amid smiles and heartfelt stories, we listened to the challenges facing the school and community. Through words of encouragement and presence, hope was renewed.

Scholastic materials, sports items, and essential supplies were shared. Our Provincial Superior Rev. Fr. Peter Caxton Mayanja, C.S.C offered a message of solidarity and awareness for the school’s needs.

Visits to Small Christian Communities brought us face to face with Christ in the sick, elderly, and vulnerable. The Eucharist was shared, along with clothing and compassion met with overwhelming hospitality.

At Ogello Primary School, support was given alongside a call for mindset change, unity, and hope.

At St. Francis Juma Outstation, where a collapsed church left hearts heavy, words of faith and encouragement helped lift spirits.

The day ended with a long return tired, yet deeply fulfilled.
