2 Samuel 17:23 But when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his donkey, went home to his city, put his household in order, and hanged himself and died, and was buried in the tomb of his father.*
💡Ahithophel, a man whose counsel was as great as the oracles of God but with folly in his heart ended so badly.
The counsel he gave to Absalom was neglected and rejected while they chose to go by Hushai's counsel. This is the problem with a man whose heart has concealed folly; they shall always carry a seed of pride within them because once they are not listened to, they feel disrespected and dishonoured.
🕯️The Hebrew word for "folly" also means, _"one who mocks when guilty."_ Ahithophel mocked his life by hanging himself to death because his counsel was not considered and told how wrong it was in that particular instance. He mocked his own life and committed su***de. That's the seed of folly in a man's heart. Because he despised wisdom and gave counsel that disgraces and also plotted to kill David, there he went astray and ended up losing his life.
*Proverbs 5:23 He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.*
🏷️ Child of God, you must learn how to deal according to wisdom. If you be found with folly, bank on wisdom for you to be guided back on course. But you can't feel like "committing su***de" because your advice in that board meeting wasn't considered or when you feel rejected by that man or woman. Live soberly, and according to the wisdom of God. Folly is not your portion neither should it be determine your end. Hallelujah!
