Praise the name of the Lord everyone...
Here comes Friday, our last full day here at camp.
Our day began well thanks to God, we had our breakfast, morning staff meeting and then proceeded to our time of praise and worship.
James taught on discipleship during our morning staff teaching. He opened his teaching with a simple and yet complex question, "what is life after camp?????"
It is very much possible that we will go back to our old ways of life and forget about everything we have been taught here at camp.
But the question is, how can we not???
Can we think about this whole week spent at camp and assess ourselves?
Can we identify what we can change about our old lives that has not been for our good and God pleasing, replace it with something else learnt here at camp?
It is only after we have improved ourselves that we can be better disciples. Because when others see the positive Godly transformation in us, they too can then inquire further into how that came about.
It is this kind of curiosity and inquiry that gives us the opportunity to speak Jesus in the lives of others. This is how best we preach the Christ that is in us, by being that change that Jesus requires of us!
We learn from Matthew 19:16-22 and Luke 19:2-9 that we have to be ready and willing to give up our old ways of life, sacrifice our pleasures and desires and take on that which God wants of us.
In small group time, campers shared about what they learned from yesterday's talk show about our staff and the inspiration drawn from that. But this being the final full day at camp, they went further to give testimonies of their own regarding this camp which we can't wait to share with you in our camp general report.
Instead of games today at noon, we gave the teams that hour until lunch time to prepare and rehearse the dances that they would present since today has cultural dances as one of the night activities.
In our CPR class today, Simon taught on discovering talent and abilities and using them to become the best. This was mainly for those that haven't yet come to the knowledge of their potential. Today's lesson also called upon us to rediscover our potential as young people because we can sometimes forget ourselves and what we are good at.
The campers then went back to their families after CPR and continued to work on their cultural dances rehearsals.
During the sermon, we were reminded to be mindful and very careful when it comes to our decision making. Because as leaders, even the smallest of decisions that we make can easily bring about terrible repercussions.
We read from Matthew 6:10 and Luke 19 where we were called upon to always seek the will of the Lord for our lives as we make any decisions as leaders.
The pastor also called upon the campers to come forward and share testimonies for those that were ready. It was really an amazing time that we had.
The cultural dances went so well, very entertaining and interesting to watch.
We watched our camp slideshow and then went out to camp fire.
At camp fire, we did a talent show like we had suggested the last time at debrief. We got a list of campers that were interested in showcasing their talents and called them up to perform. We had some singing, dancing, some did poetry and one of the female campers preached the word of God as her talent. It was a more engaging time than before and so fun.
That is how our Friday went down.
