It's been quiet on our Disciple House page. In the Disciple House itself, the opposite happened. And we're way behind in informing others about the goings-on here in DH Iganga.
At first, it was a real struggle to help Waiswa and his family while he was incarcerated. There seemed to be no hope of escape. But after several weeks and periods of standing together in the gap in the spiritual realm, he was finally released. We are very grateful to those who helped and prayed for him.
This whole situation has brought us closer together as a fellowship. It has also resulted in a deeper experience with God. This has led to wonderful growth within the fellowship itself. We now continually seek support from one another, and God continues to confirm that He works powerfully through this.
We meet three times a week, and a small group is always present. Together we listen to the Holy Spirit for revelation, ask for direction in our daily lives, and share our daily experiences with God. By growing in trust in God and intimacy with Him, we prepare the group to bear fruit within everyone's network. By first learning to walk together in unity, the group becomes more stable, enabling us to disciple others as well.
Four weeks ago, our team was strengthened by our sister Martta, from Finland.
From the discipleship house, our main goal is to be able to continue to share the gospel and to pray for healing here in Iganga, while equipping others to do the same. Yet, God seems to be drawing us to new places where long term discipleship is needed.
We recently connected with several teenagers living on the streets, seeking change in their lives. They chose to visit us and listen to what God wants to teach them. This isn't an easy process for some, as they have been deeply affected by street life and therefore don't really know how to navigate it in a healthy way. The most obvious example is the use of narcotics. Drinking paraffin is the most common way to do this. Yet, some people can stop using very quickly through a change, such as protection from the cold and fear.
Through these teenagers, we came into contact with a center called Peca. https://www.pecauganda.org At this center, we were asked to walk with the teenagers in discipleship. We started with the basics: who among these young people has been born again and who is ready for the next step in this process? We also go there three times a week and, in the coming period, will grow in learning to live with the Holy Spirit, based on the very practical transformation they may experience with Jesus. For only He can lead us to green pastures. He refreshes our souls and guides us in right paths to glorify His name.
Our house became too small while getting many visitors. Also the members of our household increased. It gives us peace to do. But we didn't have the capacity, which made us build a small shelter for our dining table.
God is good! And we rejoice in His work among us!
We ask for your prayers. After all, there is much to be done here. And our conclusion is that the laborers are few. The connections are also more prosperous than our location and resources. And we would like to do more promotion to help young people off the streets go to school. This creates a solid foundation for change for them.
For this reason, we will be sharing several promotional posts and videos that our followers can share, hoping they will generate some sponsorship.
We wish you all God's blessing. And know that you are always welcome to join and support the Iganga discipleship house.
