‎𝐇𝐔𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐈𝐍 𝐆𝐎𝐃'𝐒 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐂𝐄
Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble (𝟏 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝟓:𝟓).

‎Over the years, I've seen highly spiritually gifted Christians, including ministers, whose work turned to emptiness, because they weren't walking in humility. No matter how highly gifted you are, when it's mixed with pride, it's not acceptable to God. Your desire should be that whatever you offer to the Lord in ministry and in your service to Him be accepted, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit. Everything you do in the house of God is an offering to Him; your service is a sacrifice to God. But God won't accept your sacrifice if it's mixed with selfishness and greed; pomposity, pride and arrogance. Greatness in the house of God isn't measured by some results that you have achieved or attained. Our opening verse says, "𝐆𝐨𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐝, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐇𝐞 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐞." Humble yourself. It's something you must consciously and deliberately practise. When thoughts of pride arise in your heart, rebuke them. The Bible says, "𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐨𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐥𝐭 𝐡𝐢𝐦𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝; 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐦𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐝" (𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐰 𝟐𝟑:𝟏𝟐). So, you see that it's either humility or humiliation. The Scriptures are replete with stories of those who were proud and how they ended up abased. But God doesn't want us to go in that direction. Correct and guide yourself with the Scriptures, with the wisdom of God at all times. Being born again, you were born great, and truly great men are always humble. Keep walking in humility, for it's a great blessing and the pathway to promotion with God.

For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace (𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟖:𝟔).

‎When the Bible talks about the carnal mind, it doesn’t mean a sinful mind person, even though the carnal mind is prone to sin. A carnal mind means a mind that’s ordinary; of mere human understanding; just normal human life. The person who’s carnally-minded, even though he’s born again, reasons and acts like the natural man. He lives according to the senses. He’s more attuned to, and concerned about the things of the flesh. The Word and the spiritual realities of the Kingdom hardly get his attention. Now, the Bible tells us that to live that way is enmity against God (𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟖:𝟕); meaning that the carnal Christian walks at cross-purposes with God. He’s not ruled by or subject to the Word of God; a state that leads to death—separation from everything gracious and divine! Why in the world should anyone live at such a base level? Be Spirit-ruled and Word-governed. Refuse to be stirred by and attracted to fleshly things. The Bible says, “…𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐝𝐨 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐡…” (𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟖:𝟓). What are the things that stir you up? Remember, where a man’s treasure is, there will his heart be also. You’re after the Spirit if your affection time and energies are focused on things pertaining to Christ, His Gospel, and the eternal life that He’s given us. So, let the Word of God control your values, ideas, opinions, choices and decisions.

‎Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith (𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟏𝟐:𝟔).
‎
‎Understanding the gift of prophecy and how it works is very important, so we can use it accurately. Prophecy is often in operation in an utterance of faith. An utterance of faith is declaration of words that’ll come to pass, or words that you desire to come to pass. However, you can’t use that level of merely declaring words of faith to alter the course of a nation, a city, a family, or another person’s life. You’d have to know the will of God, and the direction of the Spirit, to utter words that are in consonance with the Spirit of God in order to effect the kind of change that’s consistent with His will. What this means is that the gift of prophecy must operate through revelation, not just through your utterance of faith. For instance, you might have been in a prayer meeting where the prayer coordinator, being led of the Spirit said, “𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲.” Then as a result, you began to speak prophetic words; things you desired to see happen in your country. However, just because you went ahead and prophesied as instructed didn’t necessarily mean you spoke precisely the mind of God about your country at that particular moment. The words you uttered may be inconsistent with God’s revelation. This shows that you can’t just stay with the forthtelling part of prophecy; you need the revelatory part as well. You must know the mind of God. When you do, you’ll know what words to speak, and not take sides against Him. It’s the reason we pray a lot in the Spirit. When we pray in the Spirit, our spirits are more open to allow the wisdom of God to bubble up within us, and guide us in the right choice of words. Moreover, studying the Scriptures also plays a vital role. As you study and meditate on the Scriptures, your spirit is flooded with light; you’re enlightened as to the plans and purposes of God by which you’re able to pray and prophesy in accordance with His will. 𝐇𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐋𝐔𝐉𝐀𝐇!

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life (𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝟓:𝟐𝟒).

‎The curse of death is on everything in the earth, and that’s the reason everything in the earth depreciates. But when you’re born again, you’re translated from the realm of death into the realm of life. This is why you must vehemently refuse sickness, because sickness is incipient death; gradual, progressive death. If sickness tries to attack your body, don’t accept it! Act on the Word. In your path, there’s no death; there’s no darkness; therefore, refuse to accommodate anything that’s of darkness. The Bible says, “…𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐥, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐲𝐨𝐮” (𝐉𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝟒:𝟕). What we read in our theme scripture were the words of Jesus. Later on, after He had ascended, and the New Testament Church started, the Apostle Paul reechoed the same truth. In 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟖:𝟏, he said, “𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐧𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐬, 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐡, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭 .” Why is there no “𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡” or condemnation for those who don’t walk after the senses, but live in accordance with the Word? The answer is in the second verse: the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made them free from the law of sin and death (𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟖:𝟐). 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐆𝐨𝐝! The world is under the curse of the law of sin and death, but you don’t live under that law. You live by the law of the Spirit of life, and in that realm, only life controls. Meditate on this truth and let it inundate your soul and reveal itself in your body. 𝐇𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐋𝐔𝐉𝐀𝐇

Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great (𝐉𝐨𝐞𝐥 𝟑:𝟏𝟑).

‎The wickedness and evil we see in our world are our opportunity to shine the light of the Gospel. The darker the world, the brighter our lights must shine, for we’re the light in a dark world (𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟐:𝟏𝟓). A sinful and hurting world presents us with compelling opportunities to establish the righteousness of Christ. It’s our calling; we’ve got to do it! Bearing the light of the Gospel, we’re to turn men from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God. Consider for a moment, the blessings of the Gospel for the poor and the despised; the afflicted and the downtrodden, and what promise it holds for them! How that a man who is as nothing, if only he’d receive Christ, would become a prince of power with God (𝟏 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝟐:𝟖). That’s what our God does; that’s what the Gospel does. No one’s valley is too deep; no one’s sin is too dark. He said in 𝐈𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐚𝐡 𝟏:𝟏𝟖, “…𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐛𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐞𝐭, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐧𝐨𝐰; 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐛𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐬𝐨𝐧, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐨𝐥.” Hallelujah! So, in looking at the world around you, have a new mindset, because Jesus came not for the righteous, but for sinners. He came to save sinners and make them sons of God. And we’re the bearers of the good news. The world today has become so hopeless. Men have lost hope in the future; they’ve lost hope in just about everything. But there’s hope in Christ. And when we minister that hope, we’re not giving people some false hope, no; He proves His reality in the message that we preach. We never minister alone; when we preach, the Lord confirms the Word. ‎𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐆𝐎𝐃
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝟏𝟒:𝟔).

‎The saddest day in human history was when Adam, having sinned against God, was driven away from the presence of God, together with his wife, Eve. Man had been in fellowship with God, being in God’s image and likeness. The Bible says God sent an angel with a flaming sword to stay at the gate of the garden to disallow Adam from re-entering the Garden of Eden. Suddenly, man (𝐀𝐝𝐚𝐦) discovers something: the rich fellowship that he had with God was over. That was the beginning of religion. Man began to do everything he could to get that divine presence again. All the religions of the world today are seeking the same thing: the lost presence. Man had no way to get back into that presence, until Jesus came. He made a startling statement. He said, “𝐈 𝐚𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐀𝐘…𝐧𝐨 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫, 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭 𝐛𝐲 𝐦𝐞!” (𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝟏𝟒:𝟔). He’s the way to “𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞.” This was what Adam needed. This was what Abraham, Moses, the Jewish Priesthood, all needed: the way to the Father’s presence! Jesus is that way! “𝐁𝐲 𝐚 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐚𝐲, 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐮𝐬, 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐯𝐞𝐢𝐥, 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐚𝐲, 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐡” (𝐇𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝟏𝟎:𝟐𝟎). There’s no veil, no separation any more between us and the Father; He’s brought us into God’s presence, and the Bible says, “𝐈𝐧 𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐣𝐨𝐲” (𝐏𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐦 𝟏𝟔:𝟏𝟏). There’s no joy like what you have in the presence of God. What a glorious life we have in Christ! If you haven’t found your way into His presence, if you’re not yet born again, this is your moment! There’s no need to wallow in sin, defeat and ignorance any more. There’s no enmity between you and God any more. All you have to do is confess the Lordship of Jesus over your life, and your spirit will be recreated to begin an exciting life in His presence for eternity.

Whoever will humble himself therefore and become like this little child [trusting, lowly, loving, forgiving] is greatest in the kingdom of heaven (𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐰 𝟏𝟖:𝟒 𝐀𝐌𝐏𝐂).

‎The more knowledgeable you are in the things of the Spirit, the more humble you become. If your knowledge in Christ, and of God, doesn’t produce a greater level of humility in you, then something is wrong; your knowledge is of the flesh and such knowledge puffs up (𝟏 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟖:𝟏). True knowledge of God is the knowledge of the Spirit, and in unity with His Spirit. The more you know Him, the more you reveal and reflect Him in your thoughts, character, words and actions. In 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐰 𝟏𝟏:𝟐𝟗, He said, “…𝐈 𝐚𝐦 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 ….” The One who said this is the same One described as the embodiment of all knowledge and wisdom. 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟐:𝟓-𝟖 further lets us in on His humility. It says, “𝐋𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮, 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐬: 𝐖𝐡𝐨, 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐨𝐝, 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐆𝐨𝐝: 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐦𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐨𝐟 𝐧𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐮𝐩𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐢𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐭, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐞𝐧: 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐧, 𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐦𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡, 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 .” Don’t be high-minded. That’s what Jesus meant when He used the word, “𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐲” in our theme verse. It means to “𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠”; it’s one of the key things about humble people. Humility is a life; it’ll work in you, whether you’re with the high and mighty or with the lowly. It’s often expressed in action by the willingness to take on the responsibility of service to others, in loyalty to the Word. Something else about humble people is that they take responsibility, even for other people’s errors, and don’t keep record of the wrongs done to them. They free those who hurt them, because true humility is submitting to the Lordship of Jesus Christ through the Word.

Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones (𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐛𝐬 𝟏𝟔:𝟐𝟒).

‎The right words are better than gifts of money, and all earthly gifts. Read our 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞 again; it talks about kind words, gracious and pleasant words: they cheer you up, and bring out the best in you. They bring health. You may give someone nice gifts, but if the words you give to that one aren’t as nice, then your gifts are worthless. The wars in our world are caused by words, and peace comes by words. When Jacob sent gifts ahead of him to his brother, Esau, who had sworn to kill him because of his (𝐉𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐛'𝐬) deception, the gifts didn’t mean much to him. It didn’t stop him from advancing towards Jacob to attack him, even after he had seen the gifts. However, the moment he heard the voice of Jacob, as Jacob addressed him and spoke to him peaceably and lovingly from his heart, it disarmed Esau; his heart melted. Isn’t that what the Bible says? “𝐀 𝐬𝐨𝐟𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐰𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡: 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐫 𝐮𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫” (𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐛𝐬 𝟏𝟓:𝟏). A kind word will bring healing and work wonders. Don’t speak grievous, hurtful or hateful words; speak kindly always, from your heart. Use kind words, not flattery. Flattery comes from the lips, and they have no life, no matter how sweet they sound. Flattery is deceptive; don’t flatter with your words. Don’t be like the one David described in 𝐏𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐬 𝟓𝟓:𝟐𝟏. He said, “𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐦𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭: 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐢𝐥, 𝐲𝐞𝐭 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐧 𝐬𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬.” Words come from the heart; they reveal your personality and you can’t hide them. Therefore, fill your heart with God’s Words, for out of that abundance, you’ll speak words that heal, lift, encourage, bless and comfort others.

‎As we stand at the threshold of a New Year 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, Scripture reminds us that beginnings matter to God. “𝐒𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐨𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮” (𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐰 𝟔:𝟑𝟑). Prayer and fasting are divine invitations to realign our hearts with heaven. This sacred moment is to start the year in absolute Trust on God's Power and guidance. The early church fasted and prayed before making critical decisions (𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝟏𝟑:𝟐–𝟑), and we too must begin this year by intentionally seeking God’s face.

‎Jesus did not say if His followers fast, but when they fast. “𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐭, 𝐝𝐨 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐲𝐩𝐨𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐬” (𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐰 𝟔:𝟏𝟔). Fasting is not optional for a serious believer; it is an expected discipline that deepens intimacy with God. As we join this beginning-of-year fast, we are walking in obedience to Christ’s teachings and opening ourselves to spiritual clarity, strength, and renewal that cannot be gained through prayer alone.

‎In 𝐉𝐨𝐞𝐥 𝟐:𝟏𝟓–𝟏𝟔, God commands, “𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐙𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚 𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐭, 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐚 𝐬𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐲.” When the church fasts together, heaven responds collectively. To absent oneself without cause is to weaken the corporate altar God is building among His people. Unity in prayer invites unity in purpose, power, and direction for the year ahead.

‎Beloved, this fast is not a burden but a blessing. “𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐰 𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐆𝐨𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐰 𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮” (𝐉𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝟒:𝟖). The beginning of the year sets the spiritual tone for all that follows. Let us not treat lightly what heaven takes seriously. Those who hunger for God will be filled (𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐰 𝟓:𝟔). Now is the time to lay aside distractions and intentionally pursue God through prayer and fasting.
