DAVID FLOOD... THE MOST INSPIRING STORY TO THE CHRISTIAN LABORERS

Back in 1921, a missionary couple named David and Svea Flood went with their two-year-old son from Sweden to the heart of Africa—to what was then called the Belgian Congo. They met up with another young Scandinavian couple, the Ericksons, and the four of them sought God for direction. In those days of much tenderness and devotion and sacrifice, they felt led of the Lord to go out from the main mission station and take the gospel to a remote area.

This was a huge step of faith. At the village of N’dolera they were rebuffed by the chief, who would not let them enter his town for fear of alienating the local gods. The two couples opted to go half a mile up the slope and build their own mud huts.

They prayed for a spiritual breakthrough, but there was none. The only contact with the villagers was a young boy, who was allowed to sell them chickens and eggs twice a week. Svea Flood—a tiny woman of only four feet, eight inches tall—decided that if this was the only African she could talk to, she would try to lead the boy to Jesus. And in fact, she succeeded.

But there were no other encouragements. Meanwhile, malaria continued to strike one member of the little band after another. In time the Ericksons decided they had had enough suffering and left to return to the central mission station. David and Svea Flood remained near N’dolera to go on alone.

Then, of all things, Svea found herself pregnant in the middle of the primitive wilderness. When the time came for her to give birth, the village chief softened enough to allow a midwife to help her. A little girl was born, whom they named Aina.

The delivery, however, was exhausting, and Svea Flood was already weak from bouts of malaria. The birth process was a heavy blow to her stamina. She lasted only another seventeen days.

Inside David Flood, something snapped in that moment. He dug a crude grave, buried his twenty-seven-year-old wife, and then took his children back down the mountain to the mission station. Giving his newborn daughter to the Ericksons, he snarled, “I’m going back to Sweden. I’ve lost my wife, and I obviously can’t take care of this baby. God has ruined my life.” With that, he headed for the port, rejecting not only his calling, but God himself.

Within eight months both the Ericksons were stricken with a mysterious malady and died within days of each other. The baby was then turned over to some American missionaries, who adjusted her Swedish name to “Aggie” and eventually brought her back to the United States at age three.

This family loved the little girl and was afraid that if they tried to return to Africa, some legal obstacle might separate her from them. So they decided to stay in their home country and switch from missionary work to pastoral ministry. And that is how Aggie grew up in South Dakota. As a young woman, she attended North Central Bible college in Minneapolis. There she met and married a young man named Dewey Hurst.

Years passed. The Hursts enjoyed a fruitful ministry. Aggie gave birth first to a daughter, then a son. In time her husband became president of a Christian college in the Seattle area, and Aggie was intrigued to find so much Scandinavian heritage there.

One day a Swedish religious magazine appeared in her mailbox. She had no idea who had sent it, and of course she couldn’t read the words. But as she turned the pages, all of a sudden a photo stopped her cold. There in a primitive setting was a grave with a white cross-and on the cross were the words SVEA FLOOD.

Aggie jumped in her car and went straight to a college faculty member who, she knew, could translate the article. “What does this say?” she demanded.

The instructor summarized the story: It was about missionaries who had come to N’dolera long ago...the birth of a white baby...the death of the young mother...the one little African boy who had been led to Christ...and how, after the whites had all left, the boy had grown up and finally persuaded the chief to let him build a school in the village. The article said that gradually he won all his students to Christ...the children led their parents to Christ...even the chief had become a Christian. Today there were six hundred Christian believers in that one village...

All because of the sacrifice of David and Svea Flood.

For the Hursts’ twenty-fifth wedding anniversary, the college presented them with the gift of a vacation to Sweden. There Aggie sought to find her real father. An old man now, David Flood had remarried, fathered four more children, and generally dissipated his life with alcohol. He had recently suffered a stroke. Still bitter, he had one rule in his family: “Never mention the name of God-because God took everything from me.”

After an emotional reunion with her half brothers and half sister, Aggie brought up the subject of seeing her father. The others hesitated. “You can talk to him,” they replied, “even though he’s very ill now. But you need to know that whenever he hears the name of God, he flies into a rage.”

Aggie was not to be deterred. She walked into the squalid apartment, with liquor bottles everywhere, and approached the seventy-three-year-old man lying in a rumpled bed.

“Papa?” she said tentatively.

He turned and began to cry. “Aina,” he said, “I never meant to give you away.”

“It’s all right Papa,” she replied, taking him gently in her arms. “God took care of me.”

The man instantly stiffened. The tears stopped.

“God forgot all of us. Our lives have been like this because of Him.” He turned his face back to the wall.

Aggie stroked his face and then continued, undaunted.

“Papa, I’ve got a little story to tell you, and it’s a true one. You didn’t go to Africa in vain. Mama didn’t die in vain. The little boy you won to the Lord grew up to win that whole village to Jesus Christ. The one seed you planted just kept growing and growing. Today there are six hundred African people serving the Lord because you were faithful to the call of God in your life...

“Papa, Jesus loves you. He has never hated you.”

The old man turned back to look into his daughter’s eyes. His body relaxed. He began to talk. And by the end of the afternoon, he had come back to the God he had resented for so many decades.

Over the next few days, father and daughter enjoyed warm moments together. Aggie and her husband soon had to return to America—and within a few weeks, David Flood had gone into eternity.

A few years later, the Hursts were attending a high-level evangelism conference in London, England, where a report was given from the nation of Zaire (the former Belgian Congo). The superintendent of the national church, representing some 110,000 baptized believers, spoke eloquently of the gospel’s spread in his nation. Aggie could not help going to ask him afterward if he had ever heard of David and Svea Flood.

“Yes, madam,” the man replied in French, his words then being translated into English. “It was Svea Flood who led me to Jesus Christ. I was the boy who brought food to your parents before you were born. In fact, to this day your mother’s grave and her memory are honored by all of us.”

He embraced her in a long, sobbing hug. Then he continued, “You must come to Africa to see, because your mother is the most famous person in our history.”

In time that is exactly what Aggie Hurst and her husband did. They were welcomed by cheering throngs of villagers. She even met the man who had been hired by her father many years before to carry her back down the mountain in a hammock-cradle.

The most dramatic moment, of course, was when the pastor escorted Aggie to see her mother’s white cross for herself. She knelt in the soil to pray and give thanks. Later that day, in the church, the pastor read from John 12:24: “I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.” He then followed with Psalm 126:5: “Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy.”

We are told in the autobiography of Spurgeon of a woman who had come to him several times for counsel. She had seen her need of Christ after listening to his sermons and wanted further instruction on how to become a Christian. Spurgeon tediously went over the gospel with her on each occasion. She would always end the session with “Mr. Spurgeon, please pray for me.” Spurgeon became exasperated and finally said, “Lady, pray for yourself, for I will not.” This shocked her so much that she sought God directly and was soon converted.

WOW!!!! PEOPLE CAN BE CREATIVE. CAN YOU IMAGINE THIS WRITE UP!
ENJOY YOURSELF.

I went to *Genesis* hotel through *Exodus* road. On the way, I saw *Leviticus* recording the *Numbers* of people at *Deuteronomy*, while *Joshua* was waiting at the Beautiful gate for *Judges* to see *Ruth* calling loudly *"Samuel*, *Samuel*. At a stage, the *first and second Kings* of *Chronicles 1 & 2,* were coming to visit *Ezra*, *Nehemiah* and *Esther* for the misfortune of *Job* their brother. They started singing *Psalms* and teaching children *Proverbs* concerning *Ecclesiastes* and *Songs of Solomon*. This coincided with the period that *Isaiah* was engaged in *Jeremiah's* *Lamentations* together with *Ezekiel and Daniel* their friends. By that time, *Amos* and *Obadiah* were not around. Three days later, *Hosea*, *Joel* and *Jonah* travelled in the same ship with *Micah* and *Nahum* to Jerusalem. *Habakkuk* then visited *Zephaniah*
who introduced him to *Haggai* a friend of *Zechariah* whose cousin is *Malachi*.
Immediately after the tradition, *Mathew, Mark, Luke and John* got involved in *Acts* of the *Romans* who were behaving like the *1st Corinthians* group because the *2nd Corinthians* group were always at loggerheads with the *Galatians*. At that time too, they realized that the *Ephesians* and *Philippians* were close to the *Colossians*, and a suggestion for the *first Thessalonians* visit was made, and that on their *second Thessalonians* visit, they should first of all see the *first and second of the Timothy* brothers who had gone to the house of *Titus* to teach *Philemon* his younger brother how to read and write in *Hebrew*. On hearing this, *James* asked *Peter* twice to explain to him how the *three Johns* have disclosed to *Jude* the *Revelations* of this journey.

Don't enjoy alone. Forward to fellow Christians.

My Mask

Holy God, you see me and you hear me.

Through my mask, you see if I smile or if I scowl.

Through my mask, you hear me if I whisper a brief prayer or mutter a muffled curse.

My friends don’t see or hear or know; nor do my family; nor my colleagues.

But you do.

This mask takes away power – the power of clear communication but also the possibility to infect. But it also grants a freedom to be with.

My smiles, my thoughts, my mumbles, though – these I know, but they are a greater mystery to others now.

But not to you, Lord. You see past my mask, you hear through it, you know.

But your mask, Lord, what about your mask? Who can see through your mask? Hear through it?

I cannot.

I cannot see if you smile or if you scowl.

I cannot hear if you whisper an answer to my prayer or brush off my curse.

I cannot sense if you are pleased with me or if you are waiting for me to do much better.

Can we all take off our masks, Lord? Put them away?

When the disease that moves us to mask our faces for safety fades away, will our eyes and our ears be stronger, better able to see and to hear the smiles and the frowns, the cries and the whispers of those who fill our lives? Who make our lives worth living?

Will we see, Lord, that what we think of as your mask is really also our own, our inability to find you in the rush of our lives, our failure to see you in all the wonders you show us, our incapacity to hear your gentle voice in the tumult that surrounds us.

Can we know, Lord, that we put on many masks so we can cope, avoid, pretend, be acceptable? (What scar did the Phantom’s mask hide? “Who was that masked man?”)

Help us, Lord, to move beyond our masks. You are here for us to see and to hear. Help us. Let us take off our masks.

*REFLECT ON THE TROUBLESOME DAYS OF PRAYERLESSNESS AND FAITHLESSNESS OF BELIEVERS OF THIS GENERATION!*
Do you remember the MAN OF GOD in Nigeria who was full of the power of the Holy Spirit and zeal for the Lord, “Benson Idahosa,” *“Who declared that the planned meeting of witches and Wizards in Benin City cannot hold while he was alive?*
John Knox prayed, *“Lord, give me Scotland or I die…”*
St Patrick, a rugged Believer that brought even dead Animals and Trees Back to life. He prayed: “God give me souls or give me nothing Else”
Brethren, the Hebrides revival prayed: *Lord, if you will not use us, please kill us.*
The brethren from England who brought the fire from Azusa Street Revival, gathered everyday under the terrible cold. Their only prayer topic was: *“Lord give us men that will spread your fire in the streets of England.”* Indonesia Revival, those hungry hearts were seen praying during day and night: “ Lord, the harvest is ripe…if it pleases you, please use us.”
People like Katherine Kulhman, Billy Graham, Smith Wigglesworth and those great men and women of God…..ASK THOSE WHO SAW THE REVIVAL OF 1930s, 1970s AND 1980s, THEY WILL TELL YOU FAITHLESSNESS AND PRAYERLESSNESS OF BELIEVERS WE ARE SEEING IN OUR GENERATION ..
One prayer that was common during the days of William Saymour was: *“Lord, this is another day that hell must lose men and women. Please, we are here use us.”*
Paul said: *Woe is me if I preach not the gospel.* But unfortunately, our churches are filled today with people who are not ashamed of spiritual barrenness.
We are asking “God give me money. God give me spouse, god give me Visa, etc.”
Where do we see believers again that will be praying and fasting, and when you Listen to them, you will be hearing *“Lord, Let Your fire fall in my community and let there be revival?”*
When Paul encountered Christ, He fell and rose. What He asked was: *“Lord, what will you have me do?”*
But today when we fall at the feet of Jesus, we start expecting Vi

*📖FORGIVENESS AS AN OFFERING.📖 **

*Matthew 5: 23-24*

*“Therefore, if you bring your offering to the altar, and there you remember that your brother has something against you, leave your offering there in front of the altar, and go, reconcile yourself with your brother first, and then come and present your offering ”*.

Here is an important lesson on forgiveness that should be a principle of life for every Christian.

```The LORD gives a command about forgiveness, and it is about forgiving my offenders and also asking forgiveness to the offended whenever there is an offence.```
_Forgiveness has no measure, it must be constant and must flow freely from the depths of our grieved hearts._ *and it should be driven by love and faith in the Lord.*
_Forgiveness is YOUR personal decision, GOD is not going to force you to do it, but it is best for you to forgive the offender and also ask forgiveness to the offended. Remember forgiveness is to frees a slave, and the slave is precisely the offender and when you don't forgive, you turn your heart to be a prison/custody. This can't permit any of you to freely worship God.
The attitude of sincere forgiveness is essential to approach the presence of GOD in worship. God is not interested in hypocritical prayers. You can't love God that you have never seen yet hate your neighbor that you see every time.
Let us not forget that his love has given us unconditional forgiveness of all our sins, the day we receive him as our LORD and SAVIOR.
*Isaiah 43: 25* tells us, "I, I am the one who erase your rebellions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins." If the holy God can forgive your iniquities, how about you? Can't t you forgive others just because you are also forgiven?_
*If we recognize that we have something against someone in our heart we can also make the first step and make peace with that person. This is sothibg we can do in our strength we cannot love others not forgive them in our own strength. It i
His Name Is YHWH!
The Great Name that Created Everything (seen and unseen) and Everyone!
25/12/2020
She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21)
- Mary risked her marriage by accepting the will of God. She never considered the shame and banishment that would come thereafter. However, God reversed it by sending an Angel to Joseph. He was informed about the Holy seed in the womb of Mary.
- God had to send His Son who knew no sin to die for the sinners.
You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly (Romans 5:6)
The cerebration of Xmas is not a mere cerebration of a birth of a normal person but a birth of the Man-God. He was born 100% man and 100% God, with reasonable Soul and Body.
Christ came to save those whom He chose before the foundation of the world. Those ones hear his voice and believe in Him.
Some pple seek to please God through African Traditional Religion, but God's worship has no double standards. In God's point of view, those pple are idolaters. Those who worship Him, worship him only through Jesus Christ.
We only have one Mediator, one High Priest that's Jesus Christ the Son of God.
Christmas is qualified by the Passover. Only a Virgin Birth could die and save mankind. No mortal man could save himself or save others. That's why he sent his international Son to live like man and die for them, so that whoever believes in Him wouldn't die but have eternal life (John 3:16).
Always remember that, as a blameless sacrificial Ram was offered as a Ransom for man's sin, So Jesus though blameless died for human sin. Put ur trust in Him today and be saved.
