OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL

DATE: WEDNESDAY AUGUST 24TH 2022

THEME: ANTIDOTE TO SICKNESSES AND DISEASES

MEMORISE: And when they did mete it with an omer, he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every man according to his eating. Exodus 16:18

16 This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded, Gather of it every man according to his eating, an omer for every man, according to the number of your persons; take ye every man for them which are in his tents.

17 And the children of Israel did so, and gathered, some more, some less.

18 And when they did mete it with an omer, he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every man according to his eating.

19 And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till the morning.

20 Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank: and Moses was wroth with them.

MESSAGE

There are many sicknesses and diseases in the world today that were not there in the days of our forefathers. This can be traced primarily to the difference in food consumption between those olden days and now. In those days, they didn't have canned foods as they never tried to preserve anything through artificial means. Their bodies were strong and healthy because they got their food fresh from the farm as there were no freezers. These days, we want to minimize the number of times we go shopping. We want to be hungry this moment and have our food ready in five minutes, hence the increase in junk food and the use of microwave ovens. These things come at a cost to our health and vitality.

I am 80 years old now and still as strong as l was a couple of decades ago. Yes, no doubt, the Lord has been keeping me strong. I on the other hand too have not been consuming what will kill my body.

If you want to stay strong and healthy, stop eating frozen and junk foods when Jesus was teaching His disciple in Matthew 6:11, He told them to pray thus, "Give us this day our daily bread", not our weekly bread, not our monthly bread. As much as you can, get your food for the day fresh from the Source.

All frozen foods and canned foods you see are being preserved with chemicals that are dangerous to your health. Have a small garden or flower pots somewhere around your house where you can plant some vegetables so that you can get fresh whenever you want.

In the days of old, our fathers did not have as many sickness as we have now because they did not have cars, neither did they have air conditioners. They breathed in fresh air and cool themselves with it. These days some people move from air-conditioned homes to air-conditioned cars to air-conditioned offices. You are still young why can't you stay outdoors just for a little while every day to take in fresh air and vitamin D in the morning? If you start exercising your body and eating right, you will begin to feel the improvement in your health right away.

ACTION POINT

Going forward, be deliberate about eating right and exercising your body.

THEME: WATCH!

MEMORISE:

Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
Matthew 24:42

Mark 13:33-37

33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

34 For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.

35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:

36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.

37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

MESSAGE:

Jesus Christ warned His disciples to watch and to pray, because the end of this world will come suddenly. We are much closer now to the end of the world than the day when Jesus said this. Unfortunately, while we are supposed to be watching, many are sleeping.

The days we are now in can be likened to those of Noah. The Bible says in Matthew 24:38:

For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark.

Until the day the trumpet will sound and our Lord Jesus Christ will take His saints away, many people in this world will be eating and drinking, appearing to be having fun though they are on the way to eternal damnation. This is very dangerous, and coming from the mouth of the Lord Jesus, it ought to get us all on our knees, pleading for help. The night of this world is far spent, the Day of the Lord is almost here. Anyone who isn’t watching will not go with the Lord. I pray you will be found watching when the Lord returns, in Jesus’ name.

Some years ago, a man of God came to visit his friend here in Nigeria. After spending a couple of days observing the comfort and prosperity in which this man was living and the kind of sermons he was preaching, he said to his friend, “It does not appear as if you are expecting the Lord to return”. Are we really preparing for the return of the Lord Jesus Christ?

In Matthew 25:1-13, we read the story of the ten virgins. Five of them were wise and five of them foolish. The foolish ones did not take extra oil for their lamps while the wise ones did. When the announcement was made that the bridegroom was around, the foolish virgins hurriedly wanted to start preparing, but it was too late. You cannot start preparing after Jesus has returned. You have to be found prepared when He returns. Don’t sleep the sleep of death! Watch and pray, because you do not know when He will return.

I pray in the name of Jesus that you will not be left behind.

I want to Congratulate You and members of your family for making it to the SECOND HALF of this year.
Today I pray for you that God will grant you the good desires of your heart and reposition you for enviable progress in this new month of July . I pray for you that whatsoever you say or do in the new month shall be seasoned with FAVOUR in Jesus Name. I pray for you that no evil shall befall you and members of your family. Anyone secretly planning against your well being shall fail and be exposed and disgraced in Jesus Name. Every evil power set against you and members of your household shall be destroyed in Jesus Name. I pray for you that you will be under divine guidance throughout the days of this month of July. I pray for you that God will specially attend to your situation in the new month. I pray for you that you will know what to do and how to do what is required for your extraordinary success in this new month in Jesus Name .
