Our Story
In 2011, Chad Spencer visited his first orphanage in Uganda. He walked away greatly impacted and sorrowed by what he saw. He said the following words out loud. "If it's not good enough for my own children, it's not good enough for these ones." It was out of this statement that Fields of Grace Ministries, Uganda was born. The Spencer family spent 8 months in Uganda in 2013-2014. They came back to the States to "close up shop," and in July, 2015, they moved half way across the world to Entebbe, Uganda. The relationship with the children in that first orphanage, would continue to grow. In October, 2015, a dozen plus of those Ugandan kiddos moved onto Fields of Grace Ministries property, and the rest is history. Fields of Grace exists to mentor, empower, educate, and care for vulnerable children. Our mission has never changed from Chad's original spoken words. "If it's not good enough for my own children, it's not good enough for these ones." We purposefully keep our ministry small, so that each child feels a part of a family structure. The Ugandan side of the ministry is run by a team of Godly Ugandans, who seek God's best for each child. We strive to nourish the whole child. Mind, body, and spirit. Through healthy meals, education, prayer, and daily discipleship, each child is loved wholly. We also minister to the mothers/families of many of our children. We have worked hard the past few years to find out the true identity of each child. In a poverty-stricken society, many families will give their children over to institutions in hopes for a better way of life. At Fields of Grace, we seek to educate and empower families to know that the best place for most children is with their parents. For those children, who can't be with their families, Fields of Grace seeks to be their safe home. God sets the lonely in families.
